Tens of billions of dollars wiped out in minutes, and yet, I believe almost everyone is interpreting it wrong.

People are talking about the shock liquidity event across crypto and equities, where more capital was erased in hours than during COVID or any crash in recent memory.

“No one saw this coming.” 
But that’s exactly the point.

Much of what happened ties back to Trump’s renewed pushback on a Global South that’s no longer content to play second fiddle; nations that don’t need the U.S. as much anymore and frankly, are tired of being pushed around.

He reacts, markets panic, and forced liquidations cascade.

If you want to be among those best positioned to withstand the next wave of volatility over the coming decade, there are two nonnegotiables:

1. Understand the geopolitical realignments: these tectonic shifts will keep roiling markets.
2. Build legal, low-tax systems: so you don’t need to reach for leverage just to “make a move.”

Last night in Belgrade, I hosted dinner with eight entrepreneurs doing business globally. Many of them already enjoy ultra low, or even 0 % tax rates. The conversation about liquidation wasn’t fearful, but rather more curious.

They weren’t panicking but rather asking, “What now?”, because they’ve already internalized structure. They grew up figuring things can go wrong and it's worth planning.

Their path mirrors what I’ve done: by keeping more of your own money, you require less outside capital. You don’t need 100× bets when you’re not hemorrhaging value to taxation.

I get that someone is always go to try to swing for the fences, but trust me - when you feel the power of putting all of your money to work for you - that need often goes away.

You don’t lean on debt when your cash doesn’t evaporate every April, and you sleep easier not because you’re guessing right, but because your foundation doesn’t have to fight every storm.

I’ve long believed in this: pay fewer taxes, borrow less money, stay structurally agile. That’s how you aren’t forced to outwit the next black swan.

The coming years will bring more of them as power fractures between West vs. Global South and new multipolar conflicts demand different strategies.

I'm looking for good people to join Nomad Capitalist, but not in the usual "we're hiring" way. Here's my vulnerable story and request:

Over the last few years, I did what every entrepreneur is supposed to do: I hired “professionals” to help run my operations.

I stayed deeply involved in R&D, marketing, and Nomad Capitalist Live, shaping our vision and values. But somewhere along the way, I assumed that anyone had that skill and that vision. It took me 40 years to realize that’s not true.

The business ran, but the pulse slowed. Processes got tangled. Meetings replaced momentum.

Let me be clear: we still have the best product in the space, with more real options, hard-won knowledge, and results than anyone else.

But I learned that credentials don’t build legacies; conviction does. Too many “professionals” wanted to manage the spark out of what made us different.

So I made hard calls. We cut bureaucracy, cleared noise, and went back to what built this company in the first place: vision, speed, and true believers. Some people said it was too much, too fast, too... wrong.

But I knew that too many people wanted our gravity but not our authority, and that had to be corrected.

I’ve also learned that while “A-players” are great, it’s the believers who care about the mission and thrive in getting dirty who take things to the next level.

Nomad Capitalist’s vision hasn’t changed since 2012: helping people go where they’re treated best. It has evolved, deeper, sharper, and clearer, but the soul is the same.

Now I’m looking for exceptional people who want to build something that matters. This isn’t about titles or roles. It’s about skill, hunger, and alignment.

I’m not always easy to work for because my standards are high, I move fast, and I pivot based on new data more than most. But those who’ve been here for years know this: I care deeply about my business and my people, and I lead from the front.

Would you join a Christmas dinner for nomads?

I have thought about this idea for years. When I first started traveling full time, there were holidays when I would have been alone save for the grace of wonderful people like Justin Cooke.

Many nomads know what that feels like. Some come from smaller families while I've also talked to multiple clients who do not talk to their families at all. Christmas is a reminder of that.

I've met many nomads who are grateful for their lifestyle, but they admitted that December could feel quiet and sometimes lonely. It made me realize how many people in our community are asking the same question: what do you do at Christmas when you live everywhere and nowhere?

This photo is from a Christmas I spent in Monaco a few years ago, which is when the idea first came to me: what if we had a dinner, or even a two-day gathering, where nomads could come together in a warm and cinematic way?
