Moving abroad and starting everything new is a challenge and a huge opportunity at the same time. There were moments (to be honest, more like years) during my relocation journey when I did not see it this way. I simply could not recognize myself in the first couple of years of my stay in Berlin. I wasn’t as optimistic and courageous as before; I lost all my confidence and faith in myself and closed my heart to protect it. However, everything changed when I took responsibility for my experience and emerged from the victim role. Things started to shift when - instead of overthinking and overanalyzing everything and focusing on what WAS NOT AVAILABLE for me in that new environment - I started taking action towards the dreams that WERE POSSIBLE - every day. While exploring the city and its opportunities, I also rediscovered and redefined myself and my needs. It has been a rocky path, but it was so worth it! The truth is an international move is a journey on the inside as much as on the outside. Today, I am confident that I can build a life anywhere I choose from scratch again because I know who I am and what I need to find joy every day.
