Norma holds an MA in Adult Education and a BA in Sociology and Psychology. She is a retired RN with over forty years of healthcare leadership experience. A five-time self-published author of nonfiction books, she utilizes these books as educational tools to reach children, youth, and their families, enhancing their knowledge of the Canadian Youth Justice System. She facilitates public education forums essential to strengthening the safety and well-being of Black and Minority Families. A dynamic public speaker who uses social media platforms and in-person delivery of education locally, nationally, and internationally. She collaborates with community stakeholders to connect literature with education, enhancing literacy, critical thinking, empowerment, and understanding of complex issues that affect Black and Minority communities. In her recently published book, END, Incarceration of Black and Minority Youth, she highlights the lived experiences of trauma that youths encounter in their communities and when incarcerated. She strongly believes in educating families, youth and children about prevention before any child comes into contact with the criminal justice system. She is an ardent community volunteer who was recently honoured with the King Charles 111 Coronation Medal, which recognizes her exceptional positive impact on the lives of communities across Ontario.
