Recognized as one of the 100Accomplished Black Women in Canada (100ABC 2018), Norma has extensive experience in motivational, public and keynote speaking. She is regularly asked to speak on topics related to the challenges families face managing behaviours in their teens. She emphasizes that no matter what your life challenges are, you can learn the skills to transform your life. With over 30 years of public service, she has spent more than half of them motivating and mentoring families and youth to transform their mindset to see the world in a different light. She helps to heighten self-awareness and assists participants in workshop/conference settings to use several steps to rebuild their lives successfully. A four-time published author who uses the contents from her books to facilitate discussion. She is passionate about ensuring that youth of all cultures reach their potential. She advocates, collaborates and partners with communities to engage families. She assists everyone from any walk of life who would like to have greater engagement with his/her children to manage challenging behaviours. Norma is a powerful community contributor by bringing leadership and commitment to growth and safety. As a retired nurse with a vast knowledge of mental health issues, she proudly holds a BA in Sociology and Psychology and an MA in Adult Education. She channels her passion and expertise to forge the learners' minds for success. She recently completed four years as a highly engaged member of the Region of Peel Police Services Board. She supports a vision of diversity, transparency and accountability to the public and served terms as Vice Chair and Chair of the board. Due to her vibrant voice and catalyst for community growth, she has been formally recognized on several occasions for her many hours of volunteer work in the Region and the Province. She recently accepted two director positions on Boards of Governance for low-income seniors in the Region of Peel. She is authoring a 5th book about the trauma that young Black persons experience in Canada
