As an Outbound Sourcing Recruiter, I identify and recruit passive candidates for strategic roles while strategically aiding the Recruiting team's hiring. I utilize Boolean Search Strings, job boards, and various other new techniques to locate the best future hires and actively network with professional communities.

In my role, I met with students looking for job opportunities whether on campus, through internships, or after college employment.  As a Liberal Arts Career Counselor, I worked with students who often choose their areas of study based on passion.  Therefore, I saw my responsibility as helping them continue pursuing their passions through employment.  As an office, we collaborated with recruiters to understand their hiring needs and recommend positions to qualified students.  On a daily basis, I worked with students one-on-one to develop and revise resumes and cover letters while also conducting interviews to source students and provide opportunities for feedback as I advised them on the job search process.  

I was on the working group for the NonProfit Expo, which drew 383 students and 61 organizations/businesses.  Our office worked with other schools on campus such as SPEA and Social Work to market and promote the Nonprofit Expo to students and employers through social media, marketing strategies, and word of mouth.

Themed Learning Communities

As the Program Assistant for the Themed Learning Communities, I supported the logistics and programming for the TLCs in various capacities.   This 2013, we planned for 40 TLCs for the fall 2013 semester and worked with 12 schools and 33 departments.  In order to work with so many schools and departments, we utilized data systems to increase recruitment by providing a means for centralized communication among departments on campus that coordinate the course logistics.  In addition, I helped organize and support four of our Annual TLC Curriculum Planning Retreats for faculty, staff, and mentors to get together and kick start planning for the fall semester.  

During the fall of 2012, I assisted our office to plan the 17th Annual National Learning Communities Conference in Indianapolis, IN.  I helped ensure the planning meetings that took place in Indianapolis ran smoothly, and I was also named as an editor in the program that was given out to all the participants.

I worked as part of a team to research the effects of the Super Bowl XLVI on the Indianapolis community.  We were able to begin researching before the actual Super Bowl took place to learn about the preparations that went into the event.  As a team, we all focused on different areas of the impact on Indianapolis.  I focused on the philanthropic efforts of the Super Bowl and how not-for-profit organizations were benefiting from their association with the Super Bowl, and how they were chosen from among the multitudes of not-for-profit organizations in Indianapolis.  I also focused on how philanthropic initiatives on the part of Host Committee benefited the image of Indianapolis.  

As a group, we had the opportunity to present our research at multiple conferences including the 72nd Annual Society for Anthropology Association in Baltimore, MD; the 24th Annual Butler Undergraduate Research Conference in Indianapolis, IN; and the IUPUI Research Day in Indianapolis, IN.  At the IUPUI Research Day, our group's poster presentation won 1st place.

JagVenture

As the student coordinator for JagVenture, I helped develop the first ever Jagventure camp.  This is one of the highlights of my experience as an Undergraduate student because I took part in creating the transition camp for first-year students from concept to completion.

I attended a pre-conference workshop in Atlanta, Georgia about the S.T.R.I.P.E.S camp at Louisiana State University to learn more about camps for incoming students as part of their first-year experience.  I helped decide which campgrounds to use for the camp by visiting multiple locations, created the agenda for the camp filled with activities, and recruited student leaders on campus to be team leaders at the camp.   

During the actual camp, I coordinated the logistics of activities and communicated with team leaders to make sure everything ran smoothly despite it being a first-time event.  As we geared up for the next year of Jagventure, many students who attended the previous year could not wait to be student coordinators and team leaders for the next class of incoming students.

I took part in a year long leadership program after graduating from high school.  After my first year, I wanted to take a more leadership role, so I deferred my scholarship for a second year to be a team leader.  During that time, I led teams of three to fourteen members on fundraising expeditions across America; organized, developed, and presented self-improvement weekend workshops to empower high school graduates; and trained first-year members to lead fundraising teams, community service activities, and workshops.  I often collaborated with other team leaders and group coordinators in implementing strategies for supporting my team members.  Depending on where we were, we participated in service activities that were taking place in that area and met with soon-to-be high school graduates and their families to give informational presentations about the program and answer any questions.
