I'm a psychology and finance enthusiast with a bias for automating all the boring tasks in accounting. In 2012, I was really close to quitting my career as a professional CPA. I hated the outdated processes and reactionary relationships. I spent most of my days telling people "what they should have done" instead of helping them create their future. There was no way I was going to spend 30 years doing that. So...I built the exact career I wanted. In, 2014 I founded and sold one of Canada's first virtual accounting firms. Since, then, my professional life has centered around our founding tagline "Accounting - BUT cooler". We needed a better experience. PS, back then, most CPAs thought cloud accounting was stupid. In fact, most firms thought the typical client would never hire an accountant online. Can you believe that? Well, not everyone hated the idea. Clients loved it and I got a few awards. I won a top 40 under 40 in my hometown A Career Virtuoso from my College And a Distinguished Service Award from CPA Alberta Through my acquisition, I joined a mid-sized firm as a partner. It was a cool experience BUT once again, I hated seeing people miss opportunities. I can't stand being an advisor trapped in a historian's job. Sooooo, recently I founded a technology to help people organize their chaotic financial lives. I wrote my CFP, sold my practice, and closed the door on a 5-year journey as a partner in a mid-sized firm. I'm hellbent on spending my time doing something meaningful. Something worthwhile. Old-school accounting isn't it for me. It's gotta be something cooler.
