OPTIMAL RADIODIAGNOSTIC CENTRE

As an intern in training at the Optimal Radiodiagnostic Centre, I am currently undergoing a comprehensive learning experience in the fields of sonography and X-ray. This opportunity has allowed me to immerse myself in the world of medical imaging, working toward becoming a skilled professional in these critical healthcare disciplines.

Sonography Education: Under the guidance of experienced Sonographers, I am actively involved in the process of learning how to perform ultrasound examinations. This includes gaining proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment, understanding imaging protocols, and developing the skills needed to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. 

X-ray Training: I am undergoing intensive training in X-ray procedures, working closely with radiologic technologists to learn how to prepare patients, ensure proper positioning, and adhere to radiation safety protocols while performing X-ray examinations.

Patient Interaction: Part of my training includes interacting with patients, explaining procedures, and ensuring their comfort and safety during imaging sessions. This aspect of my role helps me develop strong communication skills and empathy in a healthcare setting.

Quality Assurance: Quality control procedures and equipment maintenance are integral to my training. I am committed to ensuring that imaging equipment is properly maintained and calibrated to deliver accurate and safe diagnostic results.

Record Keeping: I am responsible for maintaining accurate records of patient information, examination details, and imaging results, contributing to the efficient organization of patient data.

This internship represents a crucial step in my career path and I am dedicated to continually expanding my knowledge and skills under the guidance of experienced professionals. I am deeply committed to my ongoing education in medical imaging and I'm enthusiastic about the contributions I will make to the field in the future.

 X-ray and Ultrasound Imaging 

Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital

During my six-month internship in the Radiology Department EKSUTH, I had the opportunity to apply and enhance the knowledge gained in my pursuit of a BSc in Human Anatomy. This invaluable experience provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the critical role radiology plays in the healthcare field.

Image acquisition and processing: I actively participated in the process of acquiring medical images using various radiological equipment (X-ray and ultrasound )This involved preparing patients for imaging, proper positioning for specified examination, ensuring their comfort and safety, and operating the equipment under supervision.

Image Interpretation: Under the guidance of experienced radiologists, I gained insights into the interpretation of medical images. I learned to identify normal anatomical structures and recognize abnormalities or pathologies in diagnostic images to some extent.

Patient Interaction: My role also involved interacting with patients. I developed strong communication and interpersonal skills while handling diverse patient populations.

Collaboration: Working closely with radiology technicians, and radiologists, I actively participated in multidisciplinary healthcare teams, fostering teamwork and collaboration in a clinical setting.

This internship in the Radiology Department has not only deepened my understanding of human anatomy but has also provided me with practical skills that will be invaluable in my future career. It reinforced the importance of accurate diagnostic imaging in healthcare and the critical role that anatomical knowledge plays in the interpretation of medical images. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this dynamic and vital department, and I look forward to leveraging this experience in my academic and professional journey in the field of Human Anatomy.
