I am passionate about how we solve global societal challenges by creating sustainable profitable technology companies and helping founders bring their inventions into reality. My interest lies in translating research excellence into practice and providing students and staff of all universities with opportunities to commercialise their ideas and innovations. I started my career by founding a biotech company and this was by far the best learning opportunity. I used my experience as a start-up founder to build a national programme; Converge Challenge. I developed it into the leading national entrepreneurship programme, which works across all Scottish universities. In my current role I am developing one of the most vibrant innovation ecosystems in the UK at Oxford looking at culture, funding and networks. In my career, I have been a company founder, a mentor and non-exec Director for early-stage companies and charities. I have worked in universities and with governments and the third sector nationally and internationally. I build successful partnerships and develop high performance, diverse teams. I have a strong track record in complex organisational re-structuring. I have led campaigns to grow the number of female entrepreneurs emerging from academia, I have built partnerships including 19 HEIs, government, government agencies and private sector companies, from blue chip corporates to local SMEs.
