As a Senior UX Designer at IOHK I leverage User Experience Design, Customer Experience Design, and Service Design tools and techniques to conceptualize novel Web3 products and services, shape their customer and user touchpoints and guide the behind-the-scenes activities that enable those experiences to be delivered as intended.

Projects I worked on:

- Midnight: a data protection-based blockchain platform designed to safeguard sensitive commercial and personal data, protecting fundamental freedoms of association, commerce, and expression.

- Regulated transfers: researching solutions for user authentication, compliance management and regulated transfers in blockchain networks.

- RealFi: a lending marketplace that removes friction between digital currencies and real world economic activities.

Quirqie

Quirqie is an initiative I started from the idea that the meaningful experience of pressing social topics is subject to R&D processes - similar to how we assign meaning to the products and services we love.

Below is a selection of reinterpretations I worked on, with the intention to research and propose novel reasons for people to rethink their attitudes and act towards pressing social topics.

For clients (2022 - 2023):
- RealFi Lending Marketplace (IOG):
A lending marketplace that removes friction between digital currencies and real world economic activities.

- Empowa Marketplace (Empowa):
A DeFi/ RealFi solution that enables affordable and greener houses in Africa through decentralized end-user finance.

Self-initiated (2020 - 2022):
- Particappant: 
A volunteering app that turns vacancies into victories. Designed for the kindhearted.

- Moment-o-Mori:
A case of life and death. The paint of the case lights up the longer the user holds the phone, revealing a test-based reminder that time is passing. Designed for smartphone users.

- Stirposcope: 
A puzzle of the past and present. Turning the Stirposcope presents participants with a set of topics that help participants think of and share stories. The most memorable stories can be stored in the puzzle - for future generations. Designed for families.

- Cradle Case: 
A starter kit for future success. A box that holds sponsored products of value to first-time parents. The box, traditional initiatives, puts the products in context for first-time parents. This helps the child to develop to its full potential in the first, and most defining years, of its life. Designed for first-time parents.

- Bee & Bee: 
A bee hotel with a view. The window-mounted bee hotel offers children, from the comfort of their living room or schoolroom, a glimpse into the world of bees. Designed to interpret bees as pets, helping children see the value of nature. Designed for children.

There’s a growing need for an increasingly diverse talent profile. That’s why we started Skyscrapers. Although it’s a never ending challenge to find and attract talent, there are too many companies that have a very traditional way in attracting young talented people. At the same time we also see that many young people have the talents to be of value for these companies, however they are not even sure themselves what their talents are. At Skyscrapers we call these sleeping beauties: Young Influencers. 

Young influencers are university graduates and selected because of their fit with our DNA > Smart, Eager, Authentic, Brave & Agile. Most of them are not yet sure where their career path will take them. However they are always focussed on impact, not afraid to walk off the beaten track and driven by personal and professional growth. 

We help our partners find and connect these Young Influencers to their organizations. That’s how we help them build a workforce that’s able to make an in impact in rapidly changing environment.

Olivier Wouters grew up in a design office for educational exhibitions. The designers there taught him how to conduct design research, explore concepts and experiment with IT. 

In 2016, Olivier graduated with an MSc in Information Studies from the University of Amsterdam. Soon after, Olivier started Quirqie. The name under which he, using his passion for Design Thinking and Meaning-Driven Innovation, reinterpreted and proposed novel meaningful experiences for pressing societal topics.

Now Olivier spends most of his time in the Web3 space. First, as a Product Designer helping IOG democratize opportunity, and second, as a stake pool operator.
