Sciencentric

I host a science-centric YouTube channel and related podcast under the moniker "Sciencentric" (see what I did there?).  Previous podcast guests have included prominent scientists, journalists, authors, and other thought leaders from the world of science and beyond. You can watch episodes on YouTube (youtube.com/sciencentric) or on the associated website (sciencentric.com) Sciencentric is a FLOWSPARK MEDIA production (see above.)

Science and Natural History Producers

Frustrated by the lack of community for people who produce science and nature media, I founded this online group in 2009. The LinkedIn group currently boasts 1600+ members and the Facebook group close to 500. I am currently working on a quarterly online event and website for the group.

WNET New York Public Media

Managed the website and digital presence of the award-winning PBS television series NATURE. Produced editorial content including videos, podcasts, articles, infographics, interactives and newsletters. Worked with designers and developers to implement website improvements. Commissioned and edited content from freelance producers and writers. Launched, hosted, and edited the monthly NATURE podcast. Managed the NATURE YouTube channel. Produced one-off websites for other PBS properties and external clients.

Lead Digital Producer, NATURE on PBS 

Scientific American

Established video production for Scientific American and associated publications. Video production tasks including development, budgeting, research, script writing, filming, editing, designing graphics, animation and rights clearance. Curated videos and managed video distribution for ScientificAmerican.com and related channels. Promoted videos via social media.  Trained staff in multimedia production including the use of audio and video equipment. Hired and managed video interns. Wrote and published blog posts.

Nature Publishing Group

Produced videos, podcasts, webcasts, and audio slideshows for  Nature, Nature-branded research journals and Scientific American. A frequent contributor to the award-winning Nature podcast. Managed recording studio and associated equipment. Trained staff in audio and video production.

Researched show topics, worked on animations in After Effects, collected stock photos and footage, helped with video shoots.

KIRO TV

Worked with Peabody award-winning producer Ben Saboonchian on a variety of long-format documentaries, profiles and shorter news stories. Produced and directed a three-minute feature story about pet therapy that aired on the evening news.

Benaroya Research Institute

Worked on the front lines of human genetics research in a lab studying gene mutations that increase breast cancer risk. Managed the DNA sequencing core lab for an institute with 150 employees.
