My passion is accounting education. This is evident by my current roles. I am currently the Director of Technical Education at LumiQ (a podcasting app for CPAs to earn their continuing education credits) and an Instructor of Accounting at the University of Colorado Denver. Prior to joining LumiQ, I was a full-time accounting faculty member at Brock University. During my academic career, I have taught a wide range of accounting courses including financial and managerial accounting at the introductory level, intermediate financial reporting, intermediate and advanced cost accounting, both US and Canadian taxation, as well as accounting theory. In addition to my full-time duties, I was also a sessional instructor at McMaster University, York University, and Ryerson University, wrote a managerial accounting textbook entitled “Managerial Accounting: Enhancing Decision Making” and was named the Goodman School of Business at Brock University Undergraduate Professor of the Year. Before my academic career, I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting and Master’s of Science in US Taxation. Once I graduated, I worked for the tax group at Grant Thornton, LLP’s Dallas office before moving to the corporate tax compliance group at Rent-A-Center’s headquarters in Plano, TX. I obtained my US CPA designation in 2011 (designated in Texas).
