At Teklas Ventures, we are the VC arm of a family office associated with Teklas. I focus on automation, robotics, and automotive, as well as broader industry 4.0, energy, and decarbonization. I get to do my dream job, managing investments into startups and VC funds alike. I cover deal origination, analysis and due diligence, deal negotiation and closing, as well as board management. Previously I was at Expon Capital, a global, multi-stage team investing across sectors for positive impact. I led investments into companies like Refurbed, Hydrosat, Sympower, and GoNuggets. Before Expon, I was briefly trained by impact investment teams in the US, including Kauffman Fellows, fellow-Booth Alumni, and an Omidyar Group fund focused on energy tech and Agtech. In a past life, I was an energy economist at the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where I monitored markets and wrote regulations for the US pipeline network and the electric grid. I originally started my entrepreneurial journey teaching business classes in the US Peace Corps in Nicaragua. I co-founded a sustainable construction company in Peru. That’s when I also started volunteering for my (now) wife's documentary production company, before they released the 23-time award-winning environmental film on Netflix, When Two Worlds Collide.
