After discovering my passion in inspiring the youth, I changed my career from being a research officer to an educator in 2013. At that time, I was not fully confident in my decision, but now after spending near four years in this field, I truly believe that this is the profession that I can take the most pleasure from. Since January 2013, I have been facilitating the learning of students with the age range of 12 - 17 years as a full time chemistry teacher at Cempaka International School, Malaysia. The school follows the Cambridge Lower Secondary Program (CLSP) and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). As the moto of the school “Mind, Body and Soul" states, being a teacher at Cempaka is not only limited to the classroom, but also to a wide range of extracurricular activities such as sports, dance, movie productions, design, expeditions and charity projects.

During my career, I have always tried to reflect on my classroom practices and welcomed feedback from my colleagues. At times, I receive the support and the knowledge for bringing a change in my lesson plans from various MOOCs and professional development programs. As a result of this reflective practise, 80 percent of my students achieved As and A*s in the 2014 IGCSE examination, and I won the Academic Excellence Award of the year. Before this, I was given the opportunity of being a teacher assistant during my Master’s degree in 2011.
