On a random December morning, I get a LinkedIn DM
“It would be interesting to hear your marketing plan”.

I thought, “who is this man?”
Turns out, I’d sent him a cold message in October.

Anyways, I jumped on a call with him.
He checked out my past work.
Offered me a trial week.

LOVED my work.
And hired me.

Currently, I am a
→ Email marketer
→ Content creator
→ Marketing strategist
→ Customer service rep
→ Social media manager

Basically, 5+ roles neatly packed into 1 role.

I know it sounds a bit stressful.
But I LOVE being a marketing generalist.

Kids on LinkedIn

I felt lonely in the LinkedIn world of adults.

I whined about it for a few months.
And then, I launched the programme!

The goal?
To empower students to build their personal brands on LinkedIn.

The first cohort is free.
And it’s 5 ‘kids’ strong.
Each cohort will last for 12 weeks.

I host weekly and 1 on 1 sessions.
My DMs are always open for 24/7 support.

I share EVERYTHING  I learn from my personal branding journey.
I was never very good at keeping secrets. 

After every session, the kids fill out a feedback form.
And my average rating is around 4.9/5

I am not a guru. I am on the same LinkedIn journey like the kids.
And that boosts my rating!

In April, I plan to launch the second cohort.

If all goes according to plan,
This will be my side-hustle, alongside a full-time job 🤞

Then, Simon found my profile.
He loved my hustle as a 20 year old.
We set up a call.

And mid-conversation, 
He made a proposal.

With little hesitation, I say yes.

I was a lost kid.

I didn’t know what career to pursue.
HR? Finance? Marketing? 

I was like a 5 year old at a candy store.

But a CEO thought I’d be a decent marketer.
That’s how I got my first marketing role.
And gave birth to “​​That Kid in Marketing”

Alongside uni, I worked for £7 an hour.
And fell in love with marketing (around Valentine’s Day).

- Produced detailed research focussing on solving ESG problems through market mechanisms
   - Analysed constraints in commercial land and property that undermine green power generation
- Collaboratively produced a workshop curriculum to train Kenyan students to work in the ESG sector
