As an engineering director I was responsible for leading multiple teams spanning 6 global locations. 

Our primary focus was the provision of high quality, industry-leading protection to millions of customers and business-critical infrastructures. 

Some of the core areas under my responsibility were as follows:
•	Engineering teams focused on sophisticated malware detonation and detection systems as well as large-scale automated QA, operational workflow systems, tools and platforms 
•	Threat analysis teams reverse-engineered malwares to produce advanced customer protection and to prevent false positive detections 
•	Quality teams focused on strategies to mitigate false positive and performance degradation risks and ensure that customers have high quality, holistic protection against threats
•	Operational teams provided 24*7 support to ensure mission critical processes run smoothly and efficiently within aggressive SLAs.

A multitude of cutting edge technologies were used including big data platforms, cloud technologies and a variety of coding languages including Python, Ruby, PHP and C++.

I was also a member of the board of directors for Symantec Technology Ireland.

Responsibilities:
• Leading several business critical functions involving globally distributed teams for quality assurance, software engineering, operations, malware analysis/reverse engineering, software harvesting and large-scale telemetry collection
• Strategy, direction, budgetery control and management for >60 staff 
• Innovating and leading engineering projects to improve quality, automate manual processes, increase throughput and productivity using data driven, lean six sigma and agile methodologies
• Incident handling - my teams look after several critical customer-facing processes requiring 24*7*365 availability and tight operational goals and SLAs

Senior Engineering Manager

Led engineering efforts to ensure rapid delivery of high quality protection content produced by Symantec Security Response.

Responsible for 4 distinct teams consisting of >40 Developers, SQA engineers and Malware analysts spanning seven locations in five countries, including 24*7*365 operations.

Led software engineering & QA teams within Tesco diets. My responsibilities included establishing technical direction, line management, day-to-day project management and throughput of changes/new initiatives from inception to deployment. 

Introduced and implemented Agile development methodologies (SCRUM) and acted as product owner for core product development. 

A wide range of technologies were employed, including SQL, C# and ColdFusion as well as SOLR, MVC frameworks, mobile-first design and responsive technology (bootstrap).

I was a member of the business strategy team which consisted of 4 senior stakeholders responsible for running the business. I was heavily involved in identifying and delivering solutions to drive growth and exceed customer expectations.
