University of Minnesota

Taught 50 4 credit courses over the course of my career. Most of the courses were taught at the University of Minnesota, including the capstone course for graduating seniors: Strategic Communications Campaign Planning. I also regularly taught and developed the Case Studies in Public Relations course. The University of Minnesota's Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication is perennially ranked among the top J-Schools in the country.

Assisted with the development and integration of the J-School's digital media course curriculum in 1998/9 for the Strategic Communications major. Spent 2004/5 as a full-time visiting associate professor/academic fellow. As a visiting professor I assisted with recruitment and digital course curriculum development. Worked closely with the Dean of the college.

Led business development and client services for this creatively driven ad agency after serving a term as a member of the board of directors. Agency won numerous local and national awards in print and broadcast advertising and public relations. Agency had a very strong creative mission and was particularly adept at radio. 

Clients included the Minnesota and National Corn Growers Association, Galleria, Grand Casinos, City of Minneapolis, Cedrics, Parade of Homes, Brick Institute of America, University of Minnesota.

U.S. Bank

Led the company's investor relations program and served as the primary spokesperson to the investment community and financial media. Collaborated with the director of corporate communications to present a coordinated, unified story to the public. Served on the holding company communications council. Provided planning and forecasting support to the CFO and worked with the asset liability committee to mitigate risk in the bond portfolio. 

Wrote 5 annual and 18 quarterly reports, drafted dozens of executive speeches and made numerous major presentations to institutional investors and buy and sell side analysts. Led the company's crisis communications team and coordinated the strategic disaster recovery plan. Daily interaction with Wall Street.

Developed and presented confidential presentations to the debt rating agencies on a regular basis. 

The bank's Investor Relations program was consistently ranked among the top investor relations programs in the country. At the time the bank was among the 15 largest in the country.

I have a passion for education and taught public relations and strategic communications as a visiting associate professor at the University of Minnesota for 17 years. In my spare time, I enjoy writing music, playing the guitar, and competing in Masters Swimming.
