There are a few things I hope that viewers of this profile will bear in mind while reflecting on what may look like the juggling of many creative projects. Indeed, it is. In The Creativity Research Handbook, Vol. 2, creativity researchers Howard Gruber and Sara Davis share their findings on how the most creative people simultaneously work on multiple projects at different stages of completion. They call this tendency, a “network of enterprises” and they have argued that it is so common among creative people that it should be recognized as standard practice.  Gruber and Davis see four primary benefits: Multiple projects cross-pollinate; Variety is the spice of creativity; We are unconsciously processing another project while we are focused on one; Every project provides a break or diversion from the others. On reflection, I realize I have always worked this way, so I am trying to capture my current network of enterprises on this profile.
