Here are 10 sharp insights he shared with us:

1. Relevance beats personalization – no copy can fix the wrong audience.

2. Your CRM is an outbound goldmine – start with re-engaging leads there before building new lists.

3. Frame your work the right way – not as lead gen, but building scalable growth systems.

4. Start with a small “foot in the door” win – then expand into bigger use cases.

5. Outbound fails for 3 reasons – bad lists, weak copy, wrong channels.

6. Discovery calls are like doctor visits – diagnose before you prescribe.

7. Trust and credibility close early deals – faster than features or pricing.

8. Selling shifts by region – US wants speed, Germany values clarity, UK negotiates hard.

9. Tools don’t fix strategy – scale the wrong focus and you just scale failure.

10. Personal brand compounds – even simple posts can create significant pipeline impact.

We wrapped up Cohort 1 this week, and Ilija’s session was packed with value for alumni who are now heading to market with their offers.

💡 This final advice he gave really resonated:
“Don’t spend forever refining your offer in theory. Go test it in the market. The feedback you get from real conversations is the fastest way to validate and grow.”

👉 It’s the mindset the program is built to put into action.

If you think GTM Engineering is just a new buzzword, you’re missing the bigger picture.

The GTME vs RevOps debate has been everywhere on LinkedIn lately:

Some say it’s just outbound automation.
Others claim it’s a brand-new function.
Some dismiss it as rebranded RevOps.

My take?
They all miss the point.

Let me explain…

After reaching the final of GTME of the Year, it felt like the right moment to finally share my perspective.

I spent 5+ years leading RevOps teams and advising companies worldwide.

In the past 2 years, I’ve also partnered closely with Clay – the first to introduce and popularize GTM Engineering.

That experience gave me a unique perspective:

I’ve lived the RevOps world, and I’ve watched the GTME world emerge.

Yes, some parts of GTM Engineering lived inside RevOps before. I’ve seen ops teams run rapid market experiments and push the limits of new tech.

But GTM Engineering isn’t just a new label for RevOps.

It operates in a different space – and moves at a different speed.

The best way I’ve found to explain it comes from “The Invincible Company” – a book by Alexander Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur.

I first came across it back in 2020, when building the RevOps function at Nethone.

There’s a model in that book called the Explore–Exploit continuum:

Explore is where innovation lives:
👉 search, experimentation, rapid iteration

Exploit is about optimizing what works:
👉 scaling, efficiency, predictability, returns

The key takeaway?

Invincible companies don’t choose one over the other – they explore and exploit in parallel.

As I reflected on the GTME vs RevOps debate, this model kept coming back. And it maps perfectly.

GTM Engineering maps to “Explore”:
→ Rapid market experiments
→ AI and technology leverage
→ Fast iteration and feedback loops
→ Directly touching the market

RevOps maps to “Exploit”:
→ Scaling proven playbooks
→ Building systematic growth engines
→ Alignment, enablement, governance
→ Serving internal teams for long-term impact

Both drive growth.
Just at different speeds.

Why does it matter now?

Because the GTM landscape is shifting faster than ever.
AI, data democratization, and new channels are reshaping how buyers engage.

Companies can’t afford to wait a year to validate a new motion.

They need the Explore engine – GTM Engineering – running experiments and finding what works.

And they need the Exploit engine – RevOps – to scale those experiments into lasting systems.

That’s why I don’t see GTME as hype.
And I don’t see it as a replacement for RevOps either.

It’s the perfect complement to the RevOps foundation.
It’s where the two speeds meet to create real synergy.

In my opinion, companies that learn to balance both will stay ahead.

And what’s your take?

I still remember the first time a client found me without me chasing them.

They’d seen my posts on LinkedIn.
Clicked through to my website.
Filled out a contact form.

It felt small at the time.
But it was the first signal that my inbound channels were starting to work.

Over time, I’ve designed them to build trust and signal value across the journey, long before a discovery call:

→ LinkedIn is often the entry point – where most people first discover my content and get a feel for my work

→ My website deepens the story – it makes my positioning and value proposition clearer, and guides prospects to the next step

→ Clay’s partner page adds credibility – putting me in front of people already searching for RevTech expertise

On their own, each channel is useful.
But together, they compound.

They create pull.

And that changes everything.

Because when someone books a call after moving through these touchpoints, the conversation is different.

It’s not about explaining who you are.
It’s not about proving credibility.

It’s about exploring fit.

And that’s the real power of strong inbound channels – they shift the dynamic from chasing to choosing.

Over the past 10 weeks in the RevTech Accelerator, I had the privilege of working closely with Jonathan Oldacre on shaping the next chapter of his advisory journey.

We went deep into:

→ Positioning and offer design
→ Exploring how RevTech solutions like Clay & Puzzle can add value to his client work
→ Designing a growth strategy that not only scales delivery but also amplifies impact

What came out of this process was more than just knowledge.

Two advisors can share almost the same recommendation.

Think of an art gallery:

Two paintings.
Similar colours.
Same brushstrokes.

One, on a raw canvas, hanging in a busy corridor.
The other, surrounded by a quality frame, placed at the center of a gallery.

The first sells online for a few hundred dollars.
The second goes at a closed auction for hundreds of thousands.

Advisory work isn’t much different.

The frame and positioning shape the perception.
And perception shapes the value.

Because at the end of the day, expertise alone doesn’t set you apart.

Value perception is what turns expertise into leverage.
And leverage is what turns busy consultants into true strategic advisors.
