TCS New York City Marathon 2025 is a wrap … 4th time #running this awesome race and each year gets better and better … still my all-time favorite race !!! I LOVED yesterday !!!

My official time was 3:19:03 … a course PR for me as I shaved 5:00 off my ‘24 time and I earned another pair of Chicago and Boston qualifiers for ‘27.

I missed a New York 2026 qualifier by 3 seconds … ugh … oh, well … need to run faster.

Awesome “night before” dinner at my favorite place in Little Italy and celebrated, post race, at a familiar diner on the upper west side …

#Thankyou, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital … thank you !!! Looking forward to more wonderful experiences with you in the years to come …

#Thankyou, New York, for another incredible marathon #weekend !!! 14 marathons down, 12 of which have been world majors.

I’m about to enter the 6th year of my accidental #running career. I started #running during COVID because the ski resorts shut down and I needed a replacement physical outlet. I ran my 1st marathon 2 weeks before I turned 50; I'll be 54 in less than a month and just learned I'm ranked 308th in the nation for my age group. Lots of room for improvement, but surreal doesn't do it justice. I want to bestow some heartfelt #thanks.

#Thankyou to my #family for chasing me down, city to city, on 3 continents, and wading through thousands of people on any given street, cheering me on, while holding aloft the Dead Mode flag. (Jeanna, Anthony, Ava, and Jackie.)

#Thankyou to New York Road Runners; your marathon continues to be the favorite event of my race year. Going back to before I’d ever earned my 1st Abbott Star, the New York World Major Marathon was, always, THE race I wanted to run above ALL others. In 2022, I ran NYC for the 1st time on what would have been my Dad’s 85th birthday. I’ve now run your race 4 times in as many years. In the words of my favorite band, Depeche Mode, “I just can’t get enough.” I shall return.

#Thankyou to the city of New York; the electricity of the exit from the Queensborough Bridge onto 59th Street and the turn onto 1st Avenue cannot be topped. In the days leading up to the marathon (and a couple of days after) my #family and I revisited our favorite spots and discovered new ones. We deeply love the city and feel as comfortable and happy there as if we were home in #Utah.

#Thankyou to the amazing crowd who cheered on #Superman across the 5 burrows. You lifted me up and made me feel like a #superhero. 

#Thankyou to the amazing team at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the opportunity to run again this year. To Katie Casanova, Sarah, Jennifer DiPalma, and Erin Martin, I loved seeing you at the expo and I look forward to running under your banner for years to come.

#Thankyou to all at Peloton Interactive; you've helped me train for 12 World Major Marathons since 2022. Your fun and engaging classes, great equipment, and inspirational trainers are a DAILY staple of my #running and #cycling routine.

I’m a very positive guy who is willing to give most things / people the benefit of the doubt … I’m also a VERY active guy and someone who spends a lot of time on calls and in virtual meetings for my various businesses. I have a bone to pick.

The attached screenshot is, absolutely, the most annoying, obnoxious, and intrusive thing I have encountered as of late across my myriad devices. Can someone, anyone, educate me on how to purge this irritating “nudge” from my iPhone? I HATE it. I see it, ignore it, let several stack up and, then, hit the delete button with passion.

I wear bone conduction earphones while I run, swim, etc. I have speakers integrated into my numerous ski helmets. I’m VERY situationally aware … VERY.

If I’m running a race where the streets are lined with thousands of screaming / cheering people and / or if I’m swimming in a crowded (loud) outdoor pool or natatorium, I listen to music … helps me stay focused and I pair footfalls / strokes with the beat … the volume is set to what I want / need based on what’s happening around me.

If I’m in a busy locale and taking a call I adjust the volume so I can hear the people with whom I’m speaking. My volume level is situationally relevant.

I don’t need / want my devices (in this case my iPhone) assuming the role of my Mother. I have a Mother, I love her dearly; she respects the fact I’m an adult and capable of making appropriate decisions. She cheers me on from afar and doesn’t join me on the course, in the pool, down a run, or in meetings. 😂
