- Acting First Sergeant during multiple unit exercises responsible for the completion of annual training mission, security of over 50 weapons and 50 personnel until return to home of record.
- Provide guidance to the commander on all CBRN operations, hazards, and decontamination for 6 subordinate units and detachments resulting in 100% PATS tested pro-mask testing and maintaining over 80% on the training metrics for CBRN tasks.
- Plan and supervise CBRN equipment fielding and training for the battalion and subordinate units.
- Platoon sergeant with responsibility for the health and welfare for 32 soldiers, counseling subordinates on quarterly expectations and complete annual evaluations.

Staff Sergeant

- Supervises or operates and maintains chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) detection and decontamination equipment.
- Supervises unit training on CBRN equipment, reconnaissance and reporting procedures.
- Assists in the establishment, administration, and application of CBRN defense measures.
- Performs CBRN reconnaissance; operates and maintains identification/detection and decontamination equipment. Trained at the HazMat Awareness and Operator level, able to perform mass decontamination operations.

Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Sergeant (CBRN NCO)

- Publicize unit participation in community projects or activities and tell the unit story.
- Serve as the public affairs point of contact for 611th QM unit.
- Meet with unit commander and establish a unit public affairs plan and keep the commander advised of UPAR activities.
- Establish liaison with local news media - newspapers, television, cable television and radio.
- Send news releases to local media about unit personnel and activities.
- Recommend items of interest or importance to the commander for presentation to troops during weekend training.
- Maintain a bulletin board with command information items.
- Assist in planning a unit open house or family day.
- With permission and proper presentation, serve as a spokesperson for the unit commander.
- Keep the full-time state public affairs officer advised on public affairs matters in the unit.
- Determine resources and ask for assistance from the chain of command.
- Provide reference material for speeches or presentations.

Unit Public Affairs Representative (UPAR)
