Penny is an Award Winning Operator, having won the Top Ops Superstar award from Adaptiv Ops. Penny’s passion lies in 3 different areas: startups/working with founders, operations and mentoring, and it is in these 3 areas that she’s built her career. Penny started her career as an Operations Specialist at Apple, learning from the best company in the world about innovation and customer service. She then decided to break into the startup world by working at Startupbootcamp Insurtech, a global insurtech accelerator focussing on fixing the outdated insurance industry. It was here that she started working with brilliant founders helping to develop their business through connections to investors, corporates and mentors, and it was also here, where she started facilitating and creating mentor workshops, so that they could provide the best value for the startups that were accelerated. She then continued her journey into a startup, where she took the position as Chief of Staff and she learnt how to scale a company, building processes from scratch, working with the founders and C-suite on strategy to continue to grow the company, whilst always putting employees first. She currently works at Helm where they aim to connect founders of growing businesses (£1m+ turnover / year), through various different workshops/events. As Head of Operations, she works on a multitude of items from strategy, to finance, process optimisation and all things B Corp. Mentoring is her passion, highlighted throughout her career by: working with OK Mentor as their Chief of Staff, which help young women break into the creative industry, mentoring at her alma mater (Bayes Business School which is part of City university) and Greenwich University, Jumpstart: which help young people get a job in the startup world, and lastly, ad hoc mentoring individuals focussing on areas such a communication with C-suite.
