Think big, dive deep, swim fast I’ve spent the last 25+ years helping brave decision-makers start, transform and grow brands that make people's lives more rewarding. In 1994 I started a brand, design and marketing consultancy which we called big fish. We’ve helped start, transform and grow some incredible businesses including brands like Yeo Valley Organic, Riverford Organic, Abel & Cole, Tyrrells, Dorset Cereals, Gü, Charlie Bigham's, Clipper Tea, Kallo, Whole Earth and Sipsmith to name a few. We also occasionally share risk and invest in some of the businesses we help establish such as sofa.com, Boden, Biscuiteers, Freddie’s Flowers, Cornishware and Pooky. Over the last few years, I’ve turned my attention to supporting and investing in sustainable and ethical brands such as Tiba Tempeh and Howdah Indian Snacks. Howdah is a one-for-one brand that provides a child in India with a school lunch for every pack sold. So far they’ve fed over 1 million school children, which is incredible considering they’re only a tiny business. Tiba Tempeh is a new meat alternative plant based brand of delicious dishes made from, yes, you guessed it, tempeh. I’m a firm believer that life’s too short to waste it working with people who don’t want to change the world for the better. I believe that all business should be a force for good and that consumers hold the power to help fix the future. My primary focus for the next 25 years is helping visionary leaders build and implement sustainable, ethical and profitable growth strategies that help put nature and ethics first. I live in Somerset with my wife Vik and our three incredible daughters, all of whom are named after typefaces. (I am a tad obsessed with good typography and believe it should be part of the national curriculum).
