Food is for sharing and so is a great story. On the Kiwi Foodcast, I sat down with Kiwi chefs, business owners, food writers and beyond to listen and share the stories behind the food they serve. Over 50 amazing episodes, we spoke about how they started their projects, how the NZ food scene is evolving and  the one thing we all love, food.

Responsible for creating, curating and editing a wide range of communications for various digital mediums such as the student and staff news site, staff newsletter, website, social media and beyond.

In this generalist communications role I contributed to a range of campaigns focused on both University staff and students while also providing opportunities to implement and improve upon strategic projects like the Library Intranet and stakeholder content planning process.

Some of the work I loved doing include leading the development of our staff newsletter, a branding refresh for the Library's Leadership Through Learning programme and creating many many content calendars to add structure to the chaos.

Helped launch koura into the market where our vision was to assist Kiwis in making more intelligent and engaged choices about their KiwiSaver investments. In this role, I assisted in the development of user journeys, creating drip marketing campaigns and creation of the monthly newsletters. I also helped with the setup and management of our social media as well as the development of landing pages and other lead generation tools.

Bawi Bride

Bawi Bride started as a Parsi food blog primarily because I didn't know how to cook Parsi food myself. Along the way, I realised that there wasn't any online resource that spoke about our cuisine and our food heritage and decided that BawiBride.com would take on that mantle. Through my writing and other activities, I am on a mission to showcase that there is more to Parsi food than Dhansak! My recipes and stories have helped us win India's Best Regional Food Blog Award for three consecutive years.

I evolved Bawi Bride from being a blog to being a specialist Parsi caterer and from Jan 2015 - May 2019 I have fed more than 5000 happy customers for house parties, corporate functions and subscription based lunchboxes. We also organise food walks, personalised cooking classes and provide food consultancy services. 

As the Chief Tasting Officer at Bawi Bride I handled all aspects of business development & marketing communications, staff training, customer service, recipe development & menu planning, food photography, writing, marketing and much more.

Now that I have moved back to New Zealand, Bawi Bride has pivoted to being a specialist food website and we have launched what may just be the world's first Parsi podcast, Not Just Dhansak.

After working out of a home based kitchen for 2 years, in May 2017 I decided to expand Bawi Bride Kitchen and formed Greedy Foods. Through our central commercial kitchen we operated three distinct brands namely Bawi Bride Kitchen, Hungry Cat Kitchen and Lil Miss Greedy. Across all our brands we  produced food that exudes the flavours of home and breaks the monotony of "boring catering food".

As a Founding Director, I oversaw all aspects of operations, staff recruitment and training as well as corporate communications. My main job however continued to be that of Chief Tasting Officer and I played an important role in menu development as well as in growth of the business across the board.

I have also previously worked with YourStory.in and Digit Magazine to cover startups and technology trends in India.

I used to get really riled up when I met fellow Kiwis that thought Indian food is the heavy, sweet, radioactive orange butter chicken available in takeouts. Because real Indian food is nuanced with layers of flavours. It's light, incredibly versatile and easy to cook! It's why I founded Dolly Mumma. To help you go #beyondbutterchicken and make tastier Indian food, quickly. 

Since I love having my roti dipped in many curries I'm also a staff communications professional by day using stories (and very clunky intranets) to celebrate teams, share new ideas and drive change. Ideas and stories are my superpowers, and I excel at taking projects from zero to one. 

My favourite form of story-telling is writing and my journey with food writing started in 2012 when I knew nothing about Parsi food but started a food blog, Bawi Bride, as any sensible millennial would. 

My blog snow-balled and soon I was moonlighting as a caterer where I served more than 5000 clients, catered for parties of up to 150 people and generated revenues upwards of INR 4.5 Million. My work as 'the Bawi Bride' has been covered in 100+ publications and has seen me winning the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the World Zoroastrian Chamber of Commerce.

In 2019, I returned to NZ with my family. My dream is to become New Zealand's Indian food expert, and with Dolly Mumma as well as my freelance food writing I'm taking the first few steps to get there.
