I used to get really riled up when I met fellow Kiwis that thought Indian food is the heavy, sweet, radioactive orange butter chicken available in takeouts. Because real Indian food is nuanced with layers of flavours. It's light, incredibly versatile and easy to cook! It's why I founded Dolly Mumma. To help you go #beyondbutterchicken and make tastier Indian food, quickly. Since I love having my roti dipped in many curries I'm also a staff communications professional by day using stories (and very clunky intranets) to celebrate teams, share new ideas and drive change. Ideas and stories are my superpowers, and I excel at taking projects from zero to one. My favourite form of story-telling is writing and my journey with food writing started in 2012 when I knew nothing about Parsi food but started a food blog, Bawi Bride, as any sensible millennial would. My blog snow-balled and soon I was moonlighting as a caterer where I served more than 5000 clients, catered for parties of up to 150 people and generated revenues upwards of INR 4.5 Million. My work as 'the Bawi Bride' has been covered in 100+ publications and has seen me winning the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the World Zoroastrian Chamber of Commerce. In 2019, I returned to NZ with my family. My dream is to become New Zealand's Indian food expert, and with Dolly Mumma as well as my freelance food writing I'm taking the first few steps to get there.
