Surfing the Spectrum

I am honoured to have joined Surfing the Spectrum, a charity and not for profit organisation, to help build sustainable business practices and sound governance into their operations and strategy. Surfing the Spectrum is a community-based surfing initiative, connecting volunteers to people with autism in an ocean environment teaching the participants ocean awareness and promoting the benefits of surf therapy.

My directive in serving the Board focuses on the following areas:
- Treasury Duties
- Corporate governance improvement
- Drive business strategy development and implementation
- Volunteer in the surf and meet as many people as I can

As CFO I was responsible for: 
- Financial planning & analysis
- Budgeting & forecasts
- Management reports & dashboards
- Cash flow management & treasury
- Strategic financial leadership

Academic tutor at Macquarie University. I am very passionate about teaching and education. I really enjoy my classes and stay in contact with former students to assist them with their development and growth. I have taught: 
- ACCG100: Introductory Accounting
- ACCG340: Audit & Assurance

Duties for this role include:

Seminar Leader & Tutor

Nexia Sydney

I used my experience working with small businesses as a leverage to quickly become affiliated with Nexia’s audit methodology and practice. 

Notable achievements:
- Was given the opportunity to complete four, first year audits on investment fund managers and private equity raiders. These large proprietary entities totaled $300m in profit in 2016 alone. I successfully audited the four entities from start to finish, delivering the audit planning, testing and completion documents on time to the signing partner. I then prepared four sets of accounts for these entities, once again delivering on time and above expectation. 

- Authored a lengthy and research heavy report on improving a specific internal process. It is in my nature to always strive towards best practice and process reengineering. I wrote this report in my own time, a demonstration of my conscientiousness and commitment to my work. 
- Performed two audits from the busy season in rural areas. This was a great experience and a fantastic chance to bond with the team whom I was working with at the time. 
- Participated in every single CSR and extracurricular event possible, forming friendships with other departments and representing the firm. 
- Successfully completed the seven-day ACATG course, receiving positive feedback from multiple partners from different firms.
