This is Perplexity's response to Amazon's "corporate bullying." 

In short, Amazon wants to close off their platform to external agents so they can control what happens on their turf. 

Clearly this makes good business sense, but it also sucks for anyone who would like to have more control over their own agents.

My grandfather, William (Bill) Larkin Jr., served in the Army's Company H as a machine gunner in WWII, which amazingly is the exact company his father, also William Larkin, served in during WWI.

While he hardly ever spoke of the war, he served valiantly and received many honors. The oak leaf cluster, silver star, and two bronze stars for acts of heroism and courage under fire.

On a rare occasion when he spoke about the war, he described one encounter with enemy forces. A tank had come upon them catching his company off guard. An enemy soldier shot at Bill and barely missed him. In pure anger at almost being shot, he took his helmet off and threw it at the shooter, knocking him off balance. They returned fire and were able to overcome the tank.

Bill was only one of a handful of men that survived from his group that consisted of over 100 men. He returned from war to marry his sweetheart, Helen Angell.

I'm grateful for my grandfather's example and proud of his service.

Also grateful for the many men and women, past and present, who have served our great country. 

May those who paid the ultimate price, along with their families, be honored and remembered for their sacrifices.
