My career began doing a PhD in AI at the Oxford University Robotics Department. I then left that to join YCombinator and who funded my first startup out in San Francisco. My PhD taught me just how difficult it was to build and commercialise AI so I then left it almost completely alone for the rest of my engineering career until… OpenAI released ChatGPT. Within a month of that happening I realised it was going to revolutionise everything that it was possible to build. In the course of the last year I’ve spent large chunks of my time writing, teaching and consulting about how to use AI. I now divide my time between building and bootstrapping by startup, Intentional.io and consulting with teams on how best to build products using AI.
