Glow provides agencies and web developers with a better way to carry out ongoing maintenance and support of multiple client websites.

While many agencies are experts in building websites, they often lack the systems and processes required to provide ongoing management of those websites, at scale.

With a Glow account, agencies and developers can manage all of their clients’ websites from a single location. They can perform important updates in bulk, schedule regular monitoring operations, attend to client queries and support requests, as well as generate reports and display other data to prove the value of the service to their clients.

As joint owner of Your Story, I was responsible for helping grow the business from a small startup to an established marketing agency, which included a 3-fold growth in net profit.

In the day-to-day running of the business I looked after the website development clients, for whom we designed and built websites as well provided on-going support to those clients.

SNAP Design Studio was a small website development business that I setup to help local businesses with their online presence. I successfully grew the business over 2 and a half years and ended up merging it with a local marketing agency in Leeds, to form a company called Your Story.

🚨 Harsh truth:

Here's how I make sure my outsourced team is paid on time, every month:

1️⃣  Process - Throughout the month, they accurately track the time they spend on client work

2️⃣  Review - On payday, I review their timesheets

3️⃣  Currency conversion - Using the XE app, I confirm the correct currency conversion for what they're owed

4️⃣  International payments - I then use Wise (which links to our UK bank) to transfer the money, in their currency straight into their bank account

5️⃣  Accounting - Xero is then reconciled automatically using its 'Rules' feature so our P&L is updated accordingly

It's a simple process and takes me maybe 5 mins per teammate.

The key parts?

👉  Having a process in the first place
👉  Training for each teammate so they know how to track time
👉  Low transfer fees

There's loads of benefits to an outsourced team.

AI in customer support doesn't work.

For me, nothing beats 👉 human 👈 customer support.

I use loads of apps in my business and pretty much all of them implement AI in handling my customer support requests.

And I can think of ONE (which ironically is completely free) that does a pretty good AI-powered job of handling my support request.

One.

Many of the apps I use are multi-billion dollar businesses and they fail every time to answer my support queries. 🤦‍♂️

But for me, it's not so much the technical failure to handle my request.

I want to talk to (message) a person because:

❤️  It makes me feel more valued as a customer
✅  Whenever I do, 99% of the time, my query gets answered quickly and I can move on

I'm well aware of the many advantages AI can bring to businesses.

But in my experience, in customer support, it doesn't work.
