When MSD stepped down from captaincy of the Chennai Super Kings team, all the fans were upset. It's hard to digest that there may be only a few matches left where we can see him on the field. 

But there are a few things about yesterday’s match that put smiles on all the fans' faces, including mine :) 

💛 Gaiwak and Dube’s outstanding batting 
💛Pathirana’s extraordinary bowling
💛Those 20 runs by MSD that made a difference 
💛Mustafizur’s fielding that got a crucial wicket

and of course, 💙 HITMAN's remarkable century (105), scored in just 63 balls, that simply cannot go unnoticed.

“But what’s so special about yesterday’s one?”, you may ask. 

Going back to MSD’s captaincy and leadership, here are a few things I admired from yesterday’s match. 

⭐ Identify your team’s talents and provide them with growth opportunities.
⭐Pay attention to grooming juniors, spend time with them and teach them your way of doing things.
⭐If you want them to excel in something, don’t just say but do it so that they have confidence in you and your approach.
⭐Be one among them always though you have your attributes to stand out.
⭐Give them their space and see the magic happen.

As you keep scrolling through LinkedIn, you see:
1. Ex-colleagues and friends get promoted.
2. Fellow entrepreneurs celebrate their new achievements.
3. Peers launching a new marketing campaign.
4. People celebrating 10k followers.
5. Organizations taking their employees on an overseas tour.
.
.
.
It's full of updates and celebrations everywhere.
You end up liking and commenting on their posts wishing them the best. But at the corner of your mind, you may feel you are not doing good in your career as they are.

As an entrepreneur have you ever felt that?


I hear similar stories from fellow entrepreneurs. Earlier in 2021, I got FOMO'd by such things as well.

When I was chatting with my friend about not being able to do as much as my peers and other entrepreneurs in the ecosystem, she just told me a few things that I'd like to share with whoever is reading this post.

1️⃣ Entrepreneurship is not a race. Nobody is your competitor. You as an individual last year and this year is something that you should compare to. "How have you evolved as an entrepreneur and as a business from the last year?" - That's your yardstick.

2️⃣ If at all you are bothered about these things and feeling bad about yourself, then simply put your head down and keep doing what you are doing. Just like a topper in your classroom who doesn't even lift his head for a small distraction in the exam hall.

3️⃣ Keep doing what you are doing consistently.
How long you've been in the industry?
Did you make a decent turnover when compared to your last FYs?
Did you expand your team?
All these will speak and not the other factors you get FOMO'd for.

I took her words very seriously from then and shifted my focus to things that really mattered to me. It's been 2 years since I had that conversation with my friend and I see a lot of difference in my perspective and career as an entrepreneur.
