It has been almost a decade since I moved on from Reliance Industries Limited as its #GroupCHRO. It was a good transformational knock in many ways. A recent social media post I saw flashed as a backdrop the #ValuesAndBehaviors I had written for the Group, as the foundation of all #transformation. Was a lucky gatecrasher at NiCE , where I am doing a leadership series. While I have myself as one interested in things culinary, done team events around cooking this idea from the #CHRO, Sankar Sastry was with a twist. Growing up it was a long bicycle ride along the Ganges to my school in #Patna. And likewise back again. Sometimes it was so hot. Or so cold. Or in blinding rain. But that was how my daily grind was. Yes, I had friends who were picked and dropped by cars. Something I envied at some point. But as my mother would say, “ earn your right to drive through life”. And that is how honest effort got honed into you. So today when someone says they admire my #career or journey, I just say “ thank you, Mummy”. Teach yourself the right fundamentals. Someone sent me a message the other day :”Difference between u n other leaders is you Value relationship big or small and ur neutral to all....that's the sign u differ from others sir and feel more accomodative rather  than the plastic leaders who show unnecessary aura.....kudos to u”. While this is very generous of the sender, I am sharing this to remind how crucial are #relationships and it is a two way street. And the other big reminder is to  #listen to all perspectives, even if you don’t agree. Having been heard itself  wins goodwill and support.
