The systems and redefined processes, business rules, and exception handling will enable process automation. Additionally, the underlying mechanics will enable to develop insights into processing metrics and enable rapid modification to continuously improve. The functionalities that were supported in this phase include Renewals, Endorsements, Cancellation, Rescission, Reinstatement, and Account Management. Guidewire Policy Center Product forms the foundation and customized to meet Customer requirements.

Development Lead & Project Manager - P&C Insurance

Agent Gateway Desktop Enhancement:

The objective of this project is to develop Agent Gateway Desktop 1.2 application which will provide the Independent Agents (IA) in the state of Arizona and western Exclusive Agents a single sales platform to support new business policy processes for Auto, Non-standard Auto and Property products for P&C Personal Lines. 

Technology stack: J2EE, Spring framework, DB2, IBM WAS, Hibernate, z-Linux, SQL Server 2000, Websphere Portal Server.

Responsibilities: Detailed Planning, Monitoring, Risk management, Quality management, and Onsite-Offshore coordination.

Project Manager - P&C Insurance

(1) MatrixQuote Development: 

Customer decided to re-write their quotation system that was used by around 4,000 intermediaries in the field in order to provide intermediaries and support staff with a faster and more user-friendly desktop quotation system. MatrixQuote was the first step in the replacement of the entire quotation system. MatrixQuote development includes integration with 3rd party components like Magnum for Underwriting, Spotlight & Proplanner for Client Management solution, RateCalc for premium calculations, and Active Reports for generating quotations. 

Technology stack: .NET, C#, SQL Server 2000, MS Visual SourceSafe 6.0, Active Reports.

(2) Contact Center Application (CCA) Development:

CCA on Siebel has to be replaced with a J2EE based system to reduce operational and maintenance cost of Siebel deployment. The target architecture will be service oriented and confirm to SOA standards and use IAA model as reference. In addition to the functionality development of CCA, the objectives of the project includes establishing a well-layered enterprise architecture, Adopting SOA principles with loose coupling between application layers & tiers, Adopting process choreography using the BPEL, Adopting an ESB for integration between domains and enterprise applications, Business rules engine to manage the business rules, Establishing Java & J2EE standards and guidelines for the enterprise framework, and Adopting the common front-end solution strategy to integrate cross platform solutions at the User-Interface level.

Project Manager - Life Insurance

This assignment involved managing a $5M per year portfolio team of 7 Project Leads and 70 consultants and  in delivering six major enhancements release projects, two business rules extraction projects, four interface development projects, and Analysis & design for a data warehousing project in the new business application systems. 

Technology stack: Mainframe, CICS, DB2, MQ-Series, Websphere business integration (WBI) toolset, WBI Interchange server, SQL Server, IIS, Oracle 9i(PL/SQL), Unix shell programming, Java, J2EE framework, XML, Visual Basic.

(1) Outputs (Letters) System – Document Automation Platform:

The project involves maintenance and enhancement of Document Automation Platform (DAP), a tool from Docucorp, for automatically generating the customer correspondence letters. DAP runs on NT, receives feeds from multiple policy administration systems on Mainframe and AIX, and produces the correspondence letters,

(2) Actuarial System Maintenance

The project involves maintenance and enhancement of Actuarial systems that receives feeds from multiple upstream systems, transforms, formats, and consolidates the data into a feed as required by the product performance management cycle database.

Responsibilities: Requirement analysis, Impact analysis, Estimation, Detailed planning, Task assignment and monitoring, Status reporting, Onsite-offshore coordination, and Review of all deliverables.

(3) Pilot project for a Customer in Ireland

The pilot project involves an enhancement request to the system to demonstrate offshore development capabilities to Customer. It involved directly interacting with the Customer manager without any onsite team. 

Responsibilities: Requirement analysis, Impact analysis, Estimation, Detailed planning, Task assignment and monitoring, Status reporting, Quality management, and Client interactions.

(4) New Business Systems - Clarify Replacement

This project involves defining the business/systems triggers and extracting the data from the Customer new business systems related to policy replacement cases and sending the feed for setting up of case messages in the CRM system (Clarify).

Business Analyst & Project Lead - Life Insurance

(1) LifePRO product policy administration system rollout & enhancements

This project involved the creation of the LifePRO policy administration system and the implementation of two term insurance products. In an effort to accommodate the business schedule of new product introduction dates and the enormity of implementing a totally new administrative system, a phased implementation approach was adopted. LifePRO has been integrated via data interfaces with various already existing front-end and down-stream systems that were in the processing network with Customer’s legacy policy administration system. Phased implementation of additional functionality was done in 6 releases.

Responsibilities: Requirements management, JAD sessions, Walkthroughs with business, development, and testing teams, Tracking progress of the deliverables, Estimation, Review of test plans, Configuration Management, Status reporting, Regression test planning and execution, Develop Unix shell scripts & REXX tools, and Support QA testing.

(2) Insurance product repricing:

LifePRO is the new policy administration system for the Term insurance products, which interfaces with around 35 different up-stream and down-stream systems. Customer business repriced their Term products. LifePRO needed to be enhanced to support the business need.

Responsibilities: Impact Analysis, Discussion with business, Estimation, Requirements Analysis/Management, Status reporting, Review of system and quality assurance testing plans.

(3) Product Development Process – Product Variations:

This initiative is to analyze outputs (letters) from the perspective of data sourcing and triggering, adapter logic, and product related data and processing elements. The in-place architecture and methodology is evaluated with an eye toward the refinements necessary to reduce redundancies and error propagation, improve efficiency to realize the overall lowest cost, ease of implementation, and reduce systems maintenance cost.

Business Systems Analyst - Life Insurance

My significant performance in this period was in creating an innovative tool that automated repetitive tasks &  saved 60% costs in project execution. I won the STAR performer award. 

(1) Maintenance of Insurance Policy administration system:

This project involved maintenance and enhancement of the Insurance policy administration system

(2) Insurance Policy administration system data extraction:

The goal was to build a Product Performance Management Cycle (PFMC) Data Warehouse. Towards this, we had to populate historical and on-going Plan Data/Assumptions on the PFMC MIS Database. This Data includes factors for Premiums, Dividends, and Cash Values, as well as assumptions for Mortality and Expense. The data was extracted, transformed, & translated as per business rules, and uploaded into the database
