I didn't get into tech until I was 28 years old. I wouldn't trade the blue collar sales experience in my 20s for anything, but if I knew what I know now it would have been a cake walk to break into tech. Truth is, while I picked up many great skills in my university education, I didn't know the first thing about running an effective job search until much later. When I finally broke into tech, I realized that I was WORTH the WORK that I was doing. In fact I excelled. Withn 18 months I was promoted to management where I found myself on the other side of the interview table. IT didn't take long to recognize that 95% of candidates don't know the foundational tactics needed to drive an effective job search. There is a through line between the tactics used for running a job search and the tactics I spent a decade training SDRs on to generate pipeline. Over a 10 year span I interviewed thousands of recent graduates and hired hundreds. Many of the people that I've hired have gone on to rise up the ranks in tech and are now in a position to hire others.
