-Assist and cover for various teams in the Women and Families Center when needed (I.e., women's resource team, families team, and reception)
-Assist clients by providing them with resources and knowledge regarding UGM services and community resources

-Supporting clients of various abilities through STRIVE by going to their homes and assisting them based on their individual plans
-Closely monitor and accompany clients to help improve their quality of living
-Search for community resources that will benefit the client (i.e., community/recreational centers, transitional housing, etc.)
-Maintain connections with other workers/ healthcare providers that help the client in order to stay up-to-date on the clients' wellbeing
-Shadow experienced community support workers to observe how they assist clients of various abilities
-Write reports on the clients' moods, activities, and overall wellbeing at the end of each shift

Community Support Worker

Trinity Western University

-Due to changes in policies, as a peer instructor, I assisted with facilitaing Foundations 101 to a class of first-year students at Trinity Western University. I attended training sessions, provided feedback to students, and scheduled 1v1 meetings with the students to check on their academic progress in Foundations 101
-I spent time outside of class speaking with students to ensure that their transition to university was as smooth as possible
-Provided academic and emotional support to struggling students, worked with supervisors to assist them, and provided them with appropriate resources that meet their needs.

-Brew coffee and provide support for other baristas on the floor through a continuous cycle
-Complete customers' orders (food and drinks) in a timely manner
-Restock materials and clean assigned areas of the store
-Work as a cashier when assigned
-Assist in cleaning and closing the store during closing hours
-Engage with customers in a friendly and accommodating manner 
-Professionally handle customer complaints with the mindset of improving their day

Barista

Whole Way House

•	As a practicum placement student, I am responsible with assisting in tenant support work and building relationships with residents  
•	I work with vulnerable seniors who face marginalization, mental health issues, and disabilities. Isolation is a key issue Whole Way House aims to combat so I help facilitate various programs for residents (i.e., weekly Bingo, Morning Coffee, the Walking Club, etc.)
•	I organize files, fill out the Daily Log regarding tenant support, shadow housing interviews, create flyers, conduct room checks, and run errands with staff members as well as assist tenants through resource researching.
•	I work with a staff member to create a biweekly program (the Gardening Club) for residents that applies the principles Reconnect and Rebuild. Responsibilities include brainstorming fun activities and providing instructions for them, creating an equipment/budget list, creating promotional materials and a schedule.

Practicum Student

Whytecliff Agile Learning Centre

•	As a practicum placement student, I am responsible with assisting the youth workers and educators from running errands, building connections with students, to watching over students during field trips. 
•	I work with students who need academic assistance or speak with them about their hobbies and stories. In Whytecliff, close relationships with students serve as vital social support for them.
•	I occasionally help with sorting student files, watching over the front desk, and helping students complete surveys necessary to their learning experience.

Chinese Christian Mission

I worked with a team to create a month-long teens summer camp. We created weekly themes and daily activities/ lessons based on the main theme “ultimate adventure”. We all facilitated activities and icebreakers for the teens everyday. After each day, we would help clean up the center to keep the teens safe.

Youth Recreational and Leisure Activities Counsellor

I take weekly class notes for disabled students I have been assigned to and promptly send it to them after each class. I also write down additional information that may prove useful to them such as any information regarding assignments and projects.

I taught Foundations 101 to a number of first year students in Trinity Western University. Responsibilties included creating lessons based on a given format, attending training sessions, marking assignments, providing feedback to students, answering student questions, and holding several one on one meetings with students to check on their academic progress throughout the Fall 2020 semester.

Hello! My name is Rachel, and I'm an upcoming fifth-year Psychology undergraduate student at Trinity Western University. I have previously worked as a peer instructor and a tenant support worker practicum student at Whole Way House. Working with people from the DTES has been a massive privilege as I have heard their stories of resilience and love toward others. I enjoy working with people collaboratively in order to help them achieve their goals and encourage them to make empowering and intentional choices.
