Living the realities of getting a fashion start-up actually… started. So I had an idea to solve a problem in my own life – isn’t that where the best founders come from? All the books and zillions of podcasts say so, must be right huh?! And the backdrop is the age of entrepreneurship – low barriers to entry etc etc. Although does that make it harder to stand out? Esp when you are competing with brands that nail you on ad spend and adwords takeovers. Rose, my co-founder and I are Mum’s from Aotearoa NZ with an erry day problem struggling to find clothes for our tweens. We are like surely others must be fighting the same battle as us? (another story here for later about whether we are taken seriously) Clothes for youth/tweens/preteens that are cool - and that don’t buy into the crazy state of overproduction in fashion? Easy peasy. Blaire was born. Blaire exists for the 12-year-old who will not be seen dead wearing the same clothes as that adorable 5-year-old in the playground. And don’t forget Mum – she isn’t down with her kids wearing something more suited to an Ibiza club, AI designed plus slave-labour-made from deep in Guangzhou, China. Lets go…
