I serve on the Industry and Community Advisory Panel (JK ICAP) for the Bachelor of Environmental Management, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya. In this role, I collaborate on refining the curriculum to meet current industry standards, identify industrial training opportunities for students, spearhead joint research initiatives, and facilitate industry involvement in educational activities. Additionally, I contribute to continuous professional development programs and share insights through guest lectures and seminars. My aim is to bridge academia and industry, ensuring our students are equipped for the challenges and innovations of tomorrow.

Academy of Sciences Malaysia

ASM has been appointed as a strategic partner by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) to study the development of a Business Model for the Establishment of a Non-Radioactive Rare Earths (NR-REE) Industry In Malaysia. The study aspires to realise the potential economic value of the NR-REE industry which will be used as a guide to developing a holistic and comprehensive plan by the Malaysian Government at the federal and state levels. The 6 -months study commenced in August 2022, chaired by Academician Datuk Fateh Chand FASc. Ts. Raja Shazrin Shah was appointed as a Working Group Member for the study of developing a Business Model for the Establishment of a Non-Radioactive Rare Earths (NR-REE) Industry In Malaysia in Working Group 4: Environment, Social and Governance (ESG). WG4 is tasked to focus on the ESG issues related to the NR-REE industry in Malaysia. The project duration is 6 months starting August 2022.

Biological and Natural Resources Engineering Journal

Biological and Natural Resources Engineering Journal keeps researchers with current and the latest developments in biological and natural resources-based product as well as the related engineering fields that push the product from the bench to the commercial scale. It is indeed a multidisciplinary research which blends science and engineering and enhances hand-in-hand collaboration between the two fields.  The Biological and Natural Resources Engineering Journal covers areas such as Molecular Engineering, Bioenvironmental Engineering, Biomaterials, Green Nanotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Biomanufacturing, and Bioenergy.  A manuscript undergoes a double-blind review process. 

The Biological and Natural Resources Engineering Journal publishes full-length articles, short communications and welcomes review articles in the fields mentioned above especially those highlighting the latest technology.

 

Publication Frequency 
The BNREJ will be published biannually in June and December, is a peer-reviewed open-access journal of the Kulliyah of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

Raja Shazrin Shah is a Chemical Engineer and professional sustainability consultant whose areas of expertise revolve around multidisciplinary and cross-cutting aspects of environment, technology, and economy. He is also the Founder and Director at Galaxy Tech Solutions (KL) Sdn Bhd. He has extensive experience in fundamental and applied engineering research associated with waste management, wastewater treatment, sustainability, cleaner production, and greenhouse gas inventories. He has published articles in more than 12 impactful peer-reviewed journals on waste management, wastewater treatment, and chemical engineering which are of recent scientific interest to the research community. He has established strong collaborations with governmental, private, and international agencies such as the Department of Environment Malaysia, Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN), Tenaga Nasional Berhad, and academic institutions such as University of Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for various research collaborations. These strategic collaborations have enabled him to apply his research knowledge and discoveries to various stakeholders for the development of technical specifications, standards, guidelines, and national regulations. His current research focus is mainly on hydrogen production and economy, renewable energy, ESG and sustainability reporting, GHG inventory development and wastewater treatment technologies.
