At the ET Nextech HR Conference 2026 in Gurgaon, I was reminded why staying a #student is the only sustainable advantage.

Dave Ulrich reinforced that HR’s real job is not managing people—but building capabilities that outlive people.

Prof Raj Reddy distilled lifelong relevance into three non-negotiables: Learn to learn. Learn to think. Learn to execute.

In a world full of information, these three separate leaders from spectators.

And Usha Uthup exemplified that authenticity, consistently practiced, becomes timeless influence.

Interaction with an #industry colleague and conversation with young entrepreneurs added significantly to my experiential learning and sharpened my perspective.

I left with one reinforced belief:

Joined TCS in April 2010 and after a successful stint as Talent Engagement Head for Cluster of businesses including KPO, Life Sciences, CIM & Northern Region comprising 10000 + employees and exposure  to governance, structuring & M&A alignment of Citi eServe, in April 2013 moved to head Learning & Development function globally for TCS [BPS] comprising 60000+ employees and helped strengthen L&D foundation and was instrumental in winning amongst other awards, the most coveted Golden Peacock National Training Award and Brandon Hall Award.  In Feb’2015, moved to United Kingdom (UK) to Head integration of HR practices for Diligenta, a UK-based subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services with larger organization and in January 2016 role was expanded to Head integrated Talent Team comprising Performance Management, Leadership Development, Learning & Development, Diversity & Inclusion, Employer Branding and R&R for TCS UK & Ireland Geography comprising 10000+ employees. Since May 2017, headed HR for Life Sciences BPS and in April 2020 role was expanded to head Life Sciences UK & Europe including IT Business comprising 10000+ employees.

Xchanging Technologies Services India [now DXC Technology]

-Initiated variety of innovative programs covering employee relations, performance management and succession planning resulting in enhanced employee satisfaction and improved retention. Attrition reduced from 45% in 2007 to 20% in 2009. 

-Institutionalized Training Function – built learning & development framework, variety of training modules (20+), in- house training capability, delivered ~20,000 + training man-hours. Also built leadership competency framework and drove leadership development programs.

-Set up the HR legal / Archival framework and drove cost optimization of HR department / managed cost. - Generated significant saving through various Six Sigma Projects in HR.

-Having built HR image and product basket, conducted people capability road-show to drive efforts around Great Place to work strategy.  

- Participated in various HR seminars / forums to enhance Xchanging brand and build Network to leverage best practices and attract Talent.

Head - HR

GE Plastics / Genpact (Erstwhile GE Capital International Services)

-Instrumental in driving retention. Key interventions resulted in reduction in attrition from 36% to 22%.  Efforts lauded as 1 of the best turnaround story within GENPACT in 2006.

-Development / implementation of performance management system (PMS), an exercise initiated to modify the existing PMS to suit GENPACT Software project based operations.                  

-Drove the annual bonus & session c exercise – with its focus on organization and staffing, it is company’s most important management process which includes identification of high-potential talent, succession planning, review of org effectiveness and feedback on the performance.  

-Instrumental in setting up GECIS (13000+ employees) HR shared services in the year 2002 -2004.

- Took lead in re-organizing & standardizing processes of Office of the Controller, GE Capital, USA for its support services resulting in elimination of NVA's & enhanced productivity.  Undertook 6 sigma Green Belt project to improve relocation process of Intl. Accounting Div. resulting in enhanced controllership and communication. Finance Council, GE Capital, USA lauded the initiative. (2000-2002)

-Worked with product management Leadership & supported them in Monthly sales & product-wise business analysis, production sales inventory mgmt. & order management system. Successfully handled commercial services for northern region bottle business in India.(1997-2000 - GE Plastics)
