How well-developed are your senses? 

If I told you that a single coffee bean can “hide” six different natural tasting notes, would you believe me?
 
Well, it was hard for me to believe it on the first day of the barista course. Only after having trained my gustatory and olfactory senses, I could detect the flavors: from caramel to amarena cherry, dark chocolate, orange or berry-notes… altogether creating a harmonious combination.
 
Being an (amateur) barista for a few weeks has opened new doors for me – to the world of coffee and to myself. I learned 3 main things:
 
-to trust my senses,
-the craft of preparing coffee in different ways and
-to #dare #improvising.

How well do you know yourself? And what do you like about yourself?
 
I’ll start by naming 3 things that I like most about myself:
 
1.    𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐫 – which serves me in almost every situation,
2.    𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲 – which simplifies my life (it doesn’t make it easier though),
3.    𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 – once I commit to an objective.

Spring is the ideal time to refresh – the house, the garden, ourselves.
 
Things which don’t serve me anymore 👖👢👜👛 – I sort them out.

Things which I decide to keep – I clean and organize.
 
Bad habits which don’t serve me are more difficult to remove as they still stuck to me like chewing gum 🙄 (for instance chewing too much 🥨🍖🧀 late night).
 
What should I do: try hard to get rid of bad habits or compromise on some of them? I need your advice here 🆘

Body language sometimes says more than a thousand words – especially in #intercultural #negotiations.

Culturally, the same gesture has different meanings. For example, direct eye contact is a sign of honesty and trust in Europe, while it is viewed with skepticism in Asia and the Arab world. A firm handshake or a firm hug may signal friendly closeness in a certain environment or may seem threatening in another environment.

Basic rule 5: 𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙣𝙚𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙬𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢.

Wenn ich über #Gewinnen und #Verhandeln spreche, nehme ich oft im Raum zumindest eine dieser Reaktionen wahr: Neugier, Skepsis oder Ablehnung.

𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐫 – bei denjenigen, die gerne erfolgreich sind/wären und Ziele im Business, Karriere oder generell im Leben erreichen wollen. Sie interessieren sich für Lösungen und sind bereit, viel dafür zu unternehmen.

𝐒𝐤𝐞𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬 spüren die, die unsicher in Bezug auf sich selbst und ihre Ziele sind. Da fehlt es an #Selbstvertrauen, Motivation und #Strategie.

Mit 𝐀𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐡𝐧𝐮𝐧𝐠 reagieren diejenige, die Gewinnen nur in Kombination mit Verlieren assoziieren: „Wenn ich nicht gewinnen kann, dann werde ich verlieren“, oder „Wenn ich gewinne, wird mein Verhandlungsgegner verlieren – das ist mir unangenehm“, bekomme ich immer wieder am Anfang der Verhandlungsberatung zu hören.

𝙉𝙚𝙞𝙣, 𝙂𝙚𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙣 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙑𝙚𝙧𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙩 𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙩 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙝, 𝙙𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙟𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙩! 𝙀𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙩 𝙣𝙪𝙧, 𝙙𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙎𝙄𝙀 𝙄𝙝𝙧𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙙ü𝙧𝙛𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙚, 𝙒ü𝙣𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙣 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙣. Dies schließt nicht aus, dass Ihr Verhandlungspartner auch als Gewinner aus dem #Verhandlungsprozess hervorgeht.

Es gibt keine klügere und effektivere Art, Probleme zu lösen und Gewinne auf den beiden Seiten zu erreichen, als über Verhandlungsgespräche – im #Business, in der #Karriere und auch im Privatleben.

Nehmen wir das neueste Beispiel der AUA, deren Gewerkschaft großen Druck ausübt: Streik zur Osterzeit, wenn bekanntlich Familien mit Schulkindern Urlaub machen.
 
Somit versucht eine Partei, einen #Hebel in der #Verhandlung einzusetzen. Die Reaktion der Gegenpartei lässt nicht auf sich warten: Auch wenn der Streik nach Darstellung der Gewerkschaft noch abwendbar wäre, macht die Airline nun ernst – sie storniert 400 Flüge und informiert 50.000 betroffene Fluggäste darüber.
 
Wer wird als Gewinner aus dieser Verhandlung hervorgehen? Und wer als Verlierer?

𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 - basic rule 4/6 

Several languages at the negotiation table make misinterpretations inevitable.

No specific form is prescribed by law for many contracts. This means that #rights and #obligations can arise for parties in the doing. Inaccuracies and misinterpretations invariably occur and cause damage and #losses.

My recommendation is to have your agreements/protocols drawn up in writing in a reference language, i.e., a language that has been accepted by all parties as the language of communication. This can be a neutral language or the language of one of the negotiating parties.
