I have been a full time Information Systems professional for many years and I'm making a transition to full time real estate investor. Many of you have had questions regarding active and passive investing in real estate and I'm happy to answer them. The typical investor that works with me is in the IT community and has been told all of their professional life to invest the maximum 6% into a 401k and let the company match 3%. This was great advice when we were 25 but when I woke up around age 50, I realized my 401k was not going to get me to a comfortable retirement. I also realized that when I get to retirement, withdrawing 4% of my 401k and hoping that I don't outlive my money is not a great option. That got me thinking seriously about investing more in real estate. I have enjoyed investing in real estate and I expect my retirement to become full-time real estate. What it means is that I am financially free and can spend my time the way I want to. Many of the same people that I worked with in IT, are now investing with me in commercial real estate.
