Zomato

After building the design system, I was responsible for updating, gatekeeping, and maintaining the design system along with other design tasks. These included working on the new version of the Zomato app, managing Sushi (the Design System), overseeing Okra (the Typeface), curating the Wasabi (Icon Library), creating illustrations, and ensuring compliance with the brand guidelines.

Lead - Zomato Design System (Sushi)

Joined in 2018 as a product designer to build a new design language for Zomato, which would be shared across all products, from consumer-facing apps to merchant tools and in-house dashboards. 

Initially, I started working on the new version of the Z app, v13, while simultaneously developing a new design system. After several months of work, I laid the foundation for the new design system, Sushi, which played a crucial role in the release of the app's version 14. 

Later, I also created a comprehensive set of visual guidelines following Sushi to ensure consistency across all graphics and illustrations designed for the Zomato app.

Even if AI can do in minutes what takes me hours or months, I still take pleasure in the craft and making something with my hands. I enjoy it; I love the process and  feeling of creating on my own. Just because there’s a faster way to do it doesn’t mean you have to do it that way, especially if it doesn’t resonate with you.

Modular illustration using Figma draw. 
Variable width and brush is just game changer to create organic shapes. Key point here is convert stroke to union and it still editable as stroke.

Project atlas Demo: I created a small atlas Figma  plugin that automatically exports every character part as an individual sprite asset, which can be used in other 2D animation apps.
