Hi there! I’m Rebecca Desir, a strategic public health leader, social impact strategist, and health equity advocate dedicated to advancing health justice and sustainable community change. As a proud daughter of Haitian immigrants from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, I bring a deep-rooted passion for community-driven solutions, racial health equity, and public policy innovation to every initiative I lead. Driving Community Advocacy & Health Equity I currently serve as the Senior Manager of Community Advocacy at AdventHealth Central Florida Division, where I lead community engagement strategies, policy initiatives, and health equity programs to reduce health disparities in underserved populations. My work focuses on health policy integration, social determinants of health (SDOH), stakeholder collaboration, and data-driven community impact strategies. Founder & Executive Director: Black Health Commission (BHC) As the Founder of the Black Health Commission (BHC), I lead grassroots advocacy, public health initiatives, and education programs aimed at advancing well-being in Black communities. Our flagship initiative, the BLK JOY Festival gathers over 2,000 Central Floridians annually to celebrate Black wellness, joy, and health equity through community engagement, resource accessibility, and cultural affirmation.
