Volunteer Hub Coordinator

Digital inclusion has always been an issue for older people, particularly boroughs we serve which are the 3 poorest areas to live in the UK for the over 65s. Being able to get the cheapest utility deals, bid for more suitable social housing or simply finding out about what's going on in their areas is something many of us take for granted. 

The COVID-19 heath crisis has further highlighted the digital divide between those who have the means to access the resources and opportunities available on the internet and those who do not. 

My role is to support older people to develop the skills and knowledge to use the internet to access information and activities which combats loneliness and supports their ability to remain independent and connected.

Mates in Mind is a leading UK charity that is changing the conversation around mental health at work. We do this by providing employers the skills, clarity and confidence to raise awareness, improve understanding and address the stigma around mental health in the workplace.

Working alongside our partners, sector leaders and growing community of Supporters, our work is delivering effective change across construction, related industries and more widely.

I consult with organisations and provide clarity of our programme and where it fits in with their current provisions. I provide ongoing support from launch through to evaluating impact of adopting our Supporter programme. 

We support UK organisations, of any size, from those starting to address mental health in the workplace for the first time, to those who are further along their journey and would like to understand what else can be done.

No-one should be injured or made ill at work. Working with the Digital Learning team to support organisations committed to improving the health and safety of their people. 

Dealing with customer inbound queries promptly from multiple platforms. Exceeding customer service by ensuring quick response and resolution.  Also supported the British Safety Council at expos to encourage the importance of learning.

Also, provided assistance and support to our sister charity, Mates in Mind during their start up phase. Provided data migration support, and process mapping to influence adaptation of new operational processes.

Working in partnership with clients, advising them how to use information technology in order to meet their business objectives. In multiple occasions, I provided guidance during selection of technology options to suit their needs. I managed projects and conducted feasibility studies, matrix analysis, resource requirements and proposals. I was also put in charge of Sales and Marketing where I built our sales structure from scratch, as well as identifying our sales plays.

The impact of the Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines encouraged me to run a campaign alongside Paul to raise money for the Philippines Typhoon Appeal. We organised and solely promoted the event, with the use of social media, posters and networking with societies and clubs on campus. We also promoted around Canterbury to increase awareness of the appeal.

Applying strong analytical skills, problem solving abilities and project management skills I was able to successfully manage multiple projects. I took initiative to raise solutions within the team and this lead to the development of a new tool to improve efficiency. I lead teams globally to produce the tool appropriately. In addition, I voluntarily assisted various teams within the organisation, including change management and metrics analysis.
