This email exchange is funny, but it also highlights a deeper workplace reality.

An employee requested 30 days of paid leave for flu, ending with a not-so-subtle warning:
“Otherwise I will come to office.”

HR’s response?
They immediately sent everyone else to work from home and told him to report to the office.


Humor aside, there’s an important lesson here:

𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨.

When communication becomes a battle of threats, warnings, or sarcasm, something is broken in the system.

𝙎𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.

When employees feel they have to “force” health-related decisions, it means trust, empathy, and policy clarity need attention.

𝘼 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚,

When someone is sick, the priority should always be recovery, not risk, not fear, and definitely not pressure.

He came from a disadvantaged background, 
wore worn-out shoes, 
and didn’t “look the part.” 
Yet he stood his ground. 

And then he ran.
And he won.

This wasn’t just a victory on the track.
It was a victory against a mindset.

Talent, discipline, and effort silence noise faster than any argument ever could. Build your success on evidence, on results, on work no one can question.


3️⃣ Knowing Your Worth
- He didn’t let someone else’s prejudice shape his belief. 
- In professional life, self-belief is one of the strongest forms of resistance. When you know your value, bias can’t bury you.


4️⃣ Adversity as Fuel
- What was meant to break him only sharpened him.
- Sometimes the attempt to stop you becomes the reason you win.

That tiny moment is a perfect mirror of the workplace.

Hashi (24) from Bogura, Bangladesh, 
... was born with a physical disability that left both her legs

She could only write using her left hand,

But what she didn’t have physically, 
... she made up for with extraordinary determination, 
... and a father whose love carried her future, literally.


For 18 years, 
starting from class one, 
her father Nazrul Islam carried her in his arms to school.
Through sun, rain, mud roads, and stares from strangers, he never stopped.


And she never gave up.

The Power of Belief, 
Sometimes, That’s All It Takes

Everyone remembers the teacher, the boss, or the friend who once said,
“I think you can do this.”

- It’s a short sentence, but 
- it rewires something inside.
- It plants confidence where doubt used to live.
- It turns hesitation into action, and action into growth.


In leadership, 
in teaching, and 
in life, 
- belief is the invisible push behind every visible success.


One genuine line of encouragement can change a person’s entire trajectory.

Because sometimes, people don’t need motivation.
They just need someone to believe they’re capable.

A short video today hit deeper than expected,
... not just as a parent, 
... but as someone who leads, mentors, or builds anything meaningful.

In the clip, a young boy tells his father:
“𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲.”

The father smiles and replies:
“𝗜 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂. 𝗜’𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂… 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹.”


That line stays with you.

Because caring - real caring - doesn’t end.

- Not in families.
- Not in leadership.
- Not in entrepreneurship.
- Not in the work we choose to stand behind.


𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸

For Leaders & Mentors:

That “worry” is not a burden.
It’s commitment.
It’s the quiet promise leaders carry, 
... to protect, support, and guide, 
... even when the team says, “We’re fine.”


This kind of consistent care builds trust, loyalty, and psychological safety, the foundations of high-performing teams.

Anyone who starts something from zero knows this truth:

You don’t stop caring just because the day ends.

"YOU'RE TOO FRIENDLY FOR HR" - That statement often reveals a misunderstanding of what modern HR truly stands for.


Friendliness doesn’t dilute professionalism, 
... it enhances it. 

Being approachable doesn’t mean being lenient; 
... it means being emotionally intelligent enough to connect, listen, and influence effectively.


- Trust is currency.

And trust doesn’t grow from fear or authority, 
it grows from empathy, consistency, and authentic communication.


- HR is not merely a function of policies or compliance. 

It’s the bridge between structure and humanity, 
where business goals meet human emotions.

After working across multiple companies, 
... one pattern stands out clearly:

𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆.

Some owners and management teams try to run everything through one or two “𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱” people, the same individuals they rely on for 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗸, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀.

But here’s the truth:

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀, 
... 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲?


- Hiring is not decoration.
- Hiring is not formality.
- Hiring is a commitment, 

one that must be backed by trust.

Because when leaders place all responsibility on a handful of people and refuse to empower the rest, they don’t just slow down performance…

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲.


No business grows with one or two trusted soldiers while the rest stand on the sidelines.


Long-term lesson for any leader:

✅ Trust the people you bring into the organization.
✅ Give them clarity, ownership, and direction.
❌ Don’t run a business on doubt and micromanagement.


Leadership is not about doing everything.
It’s about guiding everyone.

Any thoughts?

Everyone’s saying “Start something.” 
But few talk about what it actually takes.

The truth is, 
... not everyone needs to be a founder.

But everyone should build something, 
- a skill, 
- a system, 
- a habit, or 
- a brand 
that outlives their job title.

The internet loves glorifying startups.
But the world also runs because of people who;
- show up, 
- solve problems, and 
- keep systems alive.


If you’re in HR, marketing, finance, production, design, or any so-called “regular” profession, remember: 
- you’re already building something that others depend on.


A startup doesn’t define success.
Consistency, learning, and impact do.

So yes, start something;
but more importantly, 
keep building, 
wherever you are.
