Indian Women in Dubai (IWD) is the largest women-only community in Dubai and UAE. We have over 60,000+ active women members today. 

IWD is a Social and Business Platform to Empower Women. Our mission is to build a support network and empower women-led businesses. We connect women to opportunities and provide them with a platform to showcase their talent and creativity.

We have been featured on Leading Radio Channels and Newspapers including Gulf News, Khaleej Times, and Filmfare Middle East.

I left my corporate job to build UAE’s largest women’s community.
And I’ve never looked back.

Hi, I’m Reema Mahajan, IIT + IIM alum, ex-Bain consultant, content creator, podcast host, and most importantly, a fierce believer in what women can achieve when they’re seen, heard and supported.

A few years ago, I was working in international consulting. Great job. Great life.
But something was missing.

I didn’t want to just build reports.
I wanted to build something real.
A platform. A home for women chasing big dreams in a new country.
So I created Indian Women in Dubai (IWD), now UAE’s largest and most active women’s community with 150,000+ members across Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, Youtube, Email and Tiktok

We listened to women.
We built safe, powerful space, to connect, collaborate, and grow.

It took me 25 years of hard work to reach where I am today.

📌 2001: Got into IIT Delhi, studied engineering

📌 2002 to 2005: Did an internship in Singapore, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany

📌 2006: Gave CAT but failed

📌 2007: Gave CAT AGAIN - got calls from all IIMs, joined IIM Bangalore

📌 2008: Interned at Lehman Brothers during Summers, got PPO but the financial crisis happened and didn't have a job 

📌 2009: Joined Bain & Company as an Associate Consultant

📌 2010: Got married, moved to London to work as a consultant in Bain & Company

📌 2019: Shifted to Dubai, started a small group for women in Dubai, IWD

📌 2020: Covid happened, IWD grew so rapidly during Covid, decided to take a sabbatical from job and work on IWD full time

📌 2021: Organised IWD Awards for the first time

📌 2023: Launched our video podcast - Women of Wonder

📌 2024: Launched our business network - Indian Women Network

📌 2025: Launched our Coffee Table Book - Women of Wonder Season 1

Nothing happens overnight.

It’s the sum of every move, mistake, and moment that brought me here.

Every late night, every risk, every “let’s just try once” shaped who I am today.
It taught me that success isn’t just about what you build, but who you become in the process.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:
When you follow your purpose, the dots eventually connect and the story makes sense.

I’m grateful for every single step in my journey.

In 2022, we had our first collaboration.

It was a Bahrain brand that wanted to reach the Indian audience.

Back then, we didn’t have fancy tools, a big team, or hundreds of case studies to show.

But what we did have was clarity.

Clarity about who our community was,
what they cared about,
and what kind of stories would make them stop scrolling.

So we started small.
We understood the brand, localized the message, and built real connections.
That campaign became a turning point.
It proved that authentic community-driven marketing works.
Since then, we’ve worked with 100+ brands across categories.
 But that first campaign?
 It will always remind me how far we’ve come.

What’s your ‘first time’ story in business? How was it?

At IWD, we made many mistakes.

Sometimes, events ran late.
Sometimes, fashion partners changed at the last minute.
Sometimes, our VIP guests had to leave early.
No one noticed these problems.

Not once did anyone complain about the quality or the experience.
Because the impact was always intact.

Only I could see the tiny cracks behind the shine.
The moments of panic, the last-minute fixes, the quiet sighs when something didn’t go as planned.

That’s what building something real looks like.
It’s messy. 
It’s unpredictable. 
It’s full of lessons you only learn in motion.
You can’t be perfect from Day 1.
But you can be committed from Day 1.

To the vision, to the people, to the purpose that keeps you going even when things go wrong.

Perfection doesn’t build trust.
Consistency does.
And that’s what keeps IWD shining, not because it’s flawless, but because it’s fearlessly real.
