Let me share my short story... 📖 2014- 2020 👩🏼‍💼 I worked as a recruiter In London & Singapore- recruiting across multiple disciplines. March 2020 😟 Lockdown forced me to stop and think about my life and what I wanted. I wasn't happy and after hours of trying to figure out where my 'happy place' is, I realised it was by the ocean (near it, on it, in it!). April 2021 🌴 The office I worked in was still closed, so I took the leap and decided to work remotely from Bali until things opened up again. I loved it out there: the weather, the people, the food, the culture and most importantly for me: THE OCEAN made me happy. I surfed most mornings, walked on the beach at sunset and on the weekends I could go diving/ snorkelling. June 2021 📞 My boss called. "You need to come back to London, the office is opening." Noooooooo. I really didn't want to go back to my small expensive flat, back to a packed commuter train, back to evenings in front of the TV or at the pub and weekends spent shopping for things I didn't need. My freedom was being taken away. So I quit. July 2021 💻 I struggled to find a fully remote job and realised that it wouldn't be the same as getting an onsite job. Eventually, I created a working strategy and landed 2 freelance gigs, helping remote-first companies to hire. August 2021 Then I had an "aha" moment- Instead of helping companies to hire, I could use my expertise to help people land their ideal remote job. And so Remote Rebellion was born!
