Leading the software engineering team at MaPS, comprising front-end, back-end, full stack and devops. We use Next.js, TypeScript and React alongside Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). My role is to coach, mentor and develop the capabilities of the team, ensure the delivery of high quality software, and to help define and optimise the technical design of our applications.

Software Engineering Manager

xDesign

Working on a greenfield project for a client; leading a cross-functional Agile team. My role is to drive the success of the project through technical oversight, facilitation of technical discussions and working with our engineers to define and deliver the best possible solutions. The tech stack is React / Next.js with Static Site Generation; consuming Contentful and .NET Core back-end deployed to Azure.

Other responsibilities include:
→ Coaching and supporting the growth of 7 engineers through regular 1-2-1s and ongoing personal development plans.
→ Being an active part of the engineering management group to collectively tackle challenges encountered, plan resourcing and improve technical and people management best practices.
→ Facilitating engineering interviews alongside senior engineers.

Engineering Manager

Domestic & General

→ Designed multilingual white-label appliance registration platform and led front-end development and implementation of 70+ registration sites (Angular Front-End and REST integration).
→ Reduced dependency on external agency for front-end development on WebSphere Commerce via introduction of Angular framework and "headless commerce” approach with SPAs.
→ Create front-end architecture for new Sky insurance website (Magnolia CMS with Angular Front-End and REST integration) while ensuring stringent compliance with Sky’s style guide.
→ Built and implemented payment processing application for extended warranties purchased on argos.co.uk; worked with Argos’ component library, matching their design system.
→ Grew Front-End head count from three to 25; reduced staff attrition through effective recruitment, on-boarding, performance management and mentoring.
→ Sourced, secured and oversaw technical implementation of D&G’s first CMS, Magnolia.

→ Maintained and developed white-label vanilla JS application and responsive Sass framework across a large portfolio of websites deployed on Episerver CMS.
→ Developed and implemented new features having utilised a catalog of REST APIs.

→ Identified and implemented platform performance and workflow efficiency improvements.
→ Defined and executed test scripts while resolving and mitigating defects as Test Lead.
→ Managed multi-platform content, including SharePoint and WebSphere Commerce.
→ Managed, resolved and prevented bugs and issues alongside external Developers.
→ Gathered data to present actionable insights via tools, including Google Analytics.
→ Enhanced staff performance having mentored and supported Junior Developers.
→ Led seamless migration to SharePoint platform for content management.
→ Project managed all aspects of responsive email development.

Ambitious Software Engineering Manager with experience working in private, public and agency sectors. A strong product focus and technical background specialising in development of front-end applications. Recognised for translating ideas from concept to reliable and scalable digital products at pace, scoping and overseeing critical development projects. 

Currently working at the Money and Pensions Service, an arms-length government body, driving the technical success of projects, with a key focus on coaching and supporting the growth of the engineering function. Previously built and lead a team of 25 through a successful digital transformation.
