I joined Meridian East when it was an independent supported employment charity that delivered a wide range of government & community funded welfare to work programmes, alongside developing social enterprises. My role was to research all funding available, review government policy relating to supported employment and bring in new business that complemented existing provision and met the corporate strategy. I was involved in every stage of the bid-writing process: analysing the profitability of contracts (from DWP, LSC, ESF etc), costing the resources required to deliver, contract negotiation with primary bidders, relationship management and service delivery planning. I wrote successful bids and presentations for contracts & grants and personally brought in over £500,000 in income. I also came into post to oversee and manage the development of 'Charlies Social Enterprise CIC' which offered training and employment opportunities to clients. Meridian East became part of Broadland Housing Group in 2009.

I enabled hundreds of voluntary organisations to start-up, develop and obtain funding through disseminating knowledge of suitable legal structures and funding streams. I organised and ran a number of funding / development events, inviting national funders and agencies to talk directly to local organisations. I delivered a wide variety of workshops on developing a funding strategy and income generation. This ESF funded project came to an end at the end of 2005.
