Gigged.AI is the Blended Workforce Platform for enterprise. We help solve the digital skills shortage through combining internal mobility and open talent.

We launched our MVP in late 2021 with support from Innovate UK. Gigged.AI uses generative AI and propriety skills matching technology to fill skill gaps. We do think through our Internal Talent Marketplace (ITM) and Open Talent Marketplace (OTM) products.

The Data Lab is Scotland's Innovation Centre for data and AI. Our mission is to help Scotland maximise value from data and lead the world to a data powered future. 
As a board member of the Data Lab Skills Advisory Group I am part of a diverse team that is tasked with understanding the needs of local industry in terms of skills and education requirements to drive forward the number of AI and data professionals in Scotland. I also support on wider strategy creation for The Data Lab.

This Is Me Scotland is a mental health initiative to reduce the stigma of mental health in the work place by connecting organisations across Scotland at networking events to share approaches taken and challenges faced.

A big part of my role is to use Gartner proven research and advisory methodologies and capability to assist clients with validating business decisions with other business stakeholders, helping them to understand what good looks like, how they should execute on these strategies along with insight on vendors or technology providers.

September was crazy. 16,000 miles and 100+ meetings:

1️⃣ Another sold out Tech Leaders dinner with the next one on 23rd October.

2️⃣ Two events and loads of speaking engagements in the US 🇺🇸

3️⃣ Great session in London with NatWest Group and Techstars as we look to engage with tier 1 banks.

4️⃣ Attended FinTech Scotland Festival Launch event Andy discussed more potential partnerships. 

5️⃣ This week was the UK IT Leaders Community Day in Manchester which was awesome. Amazing to see our booth so busy with tech leaders wanting to learn more about how we help solve skill shortages. Well done Dave Jones and team. 

6️⃣ We also launched Bring Your Own Agent (BYOA) which means you can now match a project to internal talent, contingent talent and AI Agents. This can also now be procured through Microsoft Azure Marketplace. 

I have met Tech Leaders and Talent Leaders from big tech, Fortune 500 and FTSE 100. Talent shortages are killing transformation projects at the moment and we are in the right place at the right time to help solve that.

Now for a few days to recharge the batteries and we go again…

Great to be in Dundee yesterday as we move from POC to BAU with Insights.

One of my highlights so far of building Gigged.AI was last year when I got to sit with Insights team members and see how they were using our skills intelligence software in day to day tasks.

Insights is Scottish company who have scaled globally to £100m+ revenue working with many Fortune 500 companies. Grateful they chose us for such an important part of their business.

The future of staffing is platforms.

That was very clear in our panel last week with:

Some of the key themes from the session:

1️⃣ Enterprise user experience is changing, most expect a technology first solution

2️⃣ Everyone is adding AI features but the adoption and value received needs to be closely monitored 

3️⃣ The recruiter role is one of the most undervalued and transferable roles there is. Time to embrace the skills they have but accept that some are needed more than others.

It was an honour to share the stage with people much smarter than me that have built huge success stories.

The key points I covered were:

1️⃣ Machine Learning is where most CIO's have a skill gap
2️⃣ How internal mobility and upskilling is not just HR's problem to solve
3️⃣ Different sources to find talent 

It seemed to go down very well so plan to do this one more between now and the end of the year.

A few more concepts and predictions I talked about last week at the UK IT Leaders Community Day.

1️⃣ Talent Sharing: In football the loan system is used by clubs regularly, especially to reduce costs. Instead of redundancies and lay offs companies could loan staff to other (non competing) companies for a loan fee. An internal talent marketplace could make this happen pretty easily.

2️⃣ Contingent Workers and AI Agents: Traditionally companies try to have a 80/20 rule, 80% full time staff and 20% contingent workers. The future is going to more like 40/40/20. 40% full-time, 40% contingent workers and 20% AI Agents.

The 40/40/40 prediction just became closer to becoming a reality.

OpenAI just announced AgentKit.

It takes AI agents from experimental side projects to production-ready systems by giving enterprises everything they need to build Agents in one place. This will trigger an explosion of domain-specific agents across functions like HR, finance, IT and customer support. 

This will see the rise of the “Agent Economy”, where building and deploying your own digital co-workers becomes as normal as spinning up a virtual machine.
