In 2020, I was put on a PIP (performance improvement plan) by my boss to force me out of the company. It was unexpected. Especially, since I just underwent brain surgery and was eager to get back to work to help out. I was forced out, didn't have a plan B and was completely broke after paying for my medical bills. All this hit me after working for this company for 3(ish) years, 7 days a week, 16 hours a day. I'll spare you my entire story, but here's a bit about what's happened since: - Debated starting my own company - Fully recovered from brain surgery - Was recruited to a competitor - Was fired from that company after 10 months - Changed industries - Exceeded quota my first year and was up for promotion - Was fired on the spot for supporting my wife's career - Applied for unemployment & lived on credit while job searching - Applied to 150+ jobs, got 3 interviews, landed 1 - Was fired after 3 months into the new role Then, in 2023, I joined my dad to start and scale RentRisk from $0. The rollercoaster has been real.
