🤯 Amazing high-growth #AI role below. Grateful if you could 👍 like / comment / repost - to help your friends discover this (it's rare, as it doesn't require previous AI experience!) It's also rare because: 1️⃣ They are hiring a cohort of 10 people into these roles and we already placed 2 people. It's extremely unusual to be able to join a growth-tech company & have the benefit of an immediate cohort / peer group - to collaborate with, learn from & support one another. We work very closely with this rapidly expanding company and I can personally recommend them highly. 2️⃣ The single biggest factor enabling career growth / progression is sector expansion. And there's no sector that will expand as fast as AI in the next decade. 🚨 Role highlights: > Rapidly growing #AI #SAAS company > Role is suitable for people with consulting or financial / professional services experience > No prior AI experience is required > 🇺🇸 Location is flexible within the USA (some travel to NYC is expected) > Role drives revenue growth and also inputs into product development 👉 Link for further details & to apply: https://lnkd.in/d6EeE4Vq 👍 Not right for you? Help your network discover this & make their day 😀

[Spaces are very limited so please drop me a line asap.] - - - ps this is what Matt (a SVP, ex-Bain) had to say about my support ☺️: "The ROI is extraordinary. Like nothing I've ever seen. I get so much out of each session. I normally find career move stuff draining, but here I walk away energized, excited & inspired."
Very rare opportunity to raise & invest a #fund in the #privateequity space. Is this for you or someone you know? Details: An M&A advisory boutique I'm close to is poised to raise a fund to invest in the UK mid-market. They are looking for a PE professional to lead the new fund investment and help drive the fund raise. It's very rare as the role will have a competitive salary from the outset, as fees are already generated by M&A advisory. The firm has good access both to capital & deal flow. I'm looking for people: > who have a track record of success in Private Equity > focused on the mid market (cheque size for this fund is likely to be £20-50m) > ideally your investment track record is in the UK but not 100% necessary > have the entrepreneurial drive to join a fund from the outset - - - 👍 This is genuinely a once in a lifetime job. I've never come across one like it in 15 years of senior hiring. So if you've read this far, I'd appreciate you liking this post or reposting to your network / commenting for reach. 📥 If this is a perfect fit for you, please send me a message. Many thanks! Rich
Do you know any #CTOs? I'm helping a #PE Fund hire a really cool role. Please share with your network to help CTOs discover 👍. Details: > Highly credible PE fund > Join the leadership team > Lead all technology, cyber and digital support to portfolio companies > Flexible location in the UK > ~£300k cash comp + CARRY 👉 For further details: > If you are a movemeon user, follow this link: https://bit.ly/4hnuKGe > If you're a CTO discovering this and don't use movemeon, simply email my colleagues & request the full job description: info@movemeon.com 🤔 Not right for you? Non-Exec roles - do they interest you? I met with 3 experienced Non-Execs in the last couple of days. Fascinating to pick their brains about: > how they got their first Non-Exec role > what surprised them about that journey (reality checks) > how they have most impact > what type of person these jobs suit So I thought it'd be interesting to see how much appetite there is for these positions. Do you do Non-Exec, Trustee, Governor or similar roles? If so, would you recommend them and what are the best bits? - - - I'll be sharing content on how to get into Non-Exec work through OnUpBeyond. 🚨 Tomorrow I'm interviewing a #CEO. What questions do you want me to ask them? Their context: They successfully moved from: (1) Consulting > (2) In-house strategy > (3) P&L leadership > (4) C-Suite. If this journey resonates with your ambitions, I'm happy to ask them your questions. Things like: > What it's really like / biggest misconceptions? > Things they miss the most from other roles? > Mistakes they made in the journey? What's on your mind? Just drop me a comment asap & I'll create a list of questions to run through in the session with them 👍
"MBB will stop hiring Analysts". Having started my career as a McKinsey Analyst, that headline - in a post about #AI - caught my attention. Here's my thoughts: 1/ The post was designed to shock & go viral. So let's take it with a pinch of salt. 2/ I spent a decent amount of time as an Analyst, doing stuff that you can instruct AI to do (formatting slides, crunching numbers). 3/ Using generative AI well, is clearly a skill that any good Analyst will need to master. 4/ When I use AI now, it's great for: a 1st draft, a sounding board, ideation. The output is never something I use as a final product - it's a starting point. 5/ MBB has high standards of output to clients. I don't think copy/paste of AI content will ever cut it. 6/ Analysts are cheap. It doesn't make sense if everyone is paid a Partner - or evening a Manager - salary. Someone needs to provide the leverage, even if the skill set at junior levels evolves & integrates mastering AI. That skill evolution in jobs has happened since the dawn of time. 7/ ❤️ I really loved my time at McKinsey. Friends who started in other consulting firms feel the same. Learned loads. Made some great friends. Travelled the world. Built multiple businesses in the consulting ecosystem since leaving. It's be such a shame is MBB Analyst isn't a job of offer to tomorrow's graduates. 🤔 What are your thoughts?
💰 Pay! Have you negotiated your comp hard enough? Is it a buyer's market or a seller's one? I've been crunching the numbers. Here's what you need to know: > Job supply has increased over the past 15 months (+44% via movemeon) > Candidate supply has also increased > Inflation has been falling, so is no longer a negotiating chip (1) Candidates are pricing themselves almost in line with what employers set out to pay (2) Today sees the lowest gap between candidate & employer start points in comp negotiations since 2020. - - - Any questions? Does this resonate with your experience? Found this helpful? I always appreciate a 👍 so I know if people are finding this free analysis useful. Thanks!
Pay progression is the no1 thing people worry about when considering leaving consulting. Yesterday, I shared these insights on my coaching program: In my experience: 1/ Don't let money drive the decision. That rarely results in the right move when you consider overall fulfilment / job satisfaction. 2/ Ex-consultants can be well paid wherever they end up. 3/ Pay progression in industry is far less transparent & less automatic. Looking at the data - specifically for current & former consultants (see below - global data set standardised to $USD): 1/ There's very little difference in annual cash comp between "industry" (ie non consulting firms) and consulting. 2/ In industry, stock / LTIP can really bump up overall package value at more senior levels - - - Hope you find this useful / insightful 👍 Does this chime with your experience after consulting? #consulting #pay
🤯 Sharing a ~£210k / $260k freelance project below. Could this be perfect for you or someone in your network? 🚀 COO role in a high growth startup I'm close to. Is this perfect for you or someone you know, particularly in your US 🇺🇸 network? Details: Context: I know the investor backing this business very well and cannot recommend working with them highly enough 😀. Details: > COO for a growing tech company > USA north-east (preference for candidates in the NY region) > Highly competitive comp, including equity About you: > Previous experience in a leadership role > Bias towards action, highly organized and a no-ego approach > Demonstrable impact creating a high performance environment 👉 Link for full details & to apply: https://bit.ly/3CTJoGJ 👍 This role is very rare. 🚀 P&L ownership role - running & scaling a key market for international business backed by top #VCs. 62% of ex-consultants aspire to the C-Suite. But the road to P&L ownership is often winding. So it's comforting to know, that 5 of the 8 most common backgrounds for CEOs are consulting firms. This analysis by Ondeck looked at every large US company (i.e, well beyond the Fortune 500). In fact it considered every company with more than 10,000 employees in Aug 2023. 2 surprises for me: 1️⃣ 30.7% of CEOs have a consulting background. 1 in 3! That's nuts. 2️⃣ The NFL and EMI would not be the 1st companies that sprung to mind. I wonder what's behind those CEO factories? So if you're an ex-consultant with C-Suite ambitions, stay resilient. This data suggests that your time consulting has given you the foundations to get there. 👉 Are you already in a C-Suite role? Any tips about your journey? - - - ps the waitlist for my career coaching is now open again. Every coachee so far, has given a 5* review. New availability is snapped up fast. 😀😀😀 Best part of my job? Meeting up with coachees after they've landed their dream new job. Rory made a really brave decision - it's a great story: He decided to leave a senior role in FMCG in pursuit of a startup MD job in a sector he's passionate about - sustainable food production. Problems: > He'd never worked in a startup (he's an ex-consultant with 10 years in FMCG). > He'd never worked in agriculture. The easy choice would have been to stay put and continue climbing the seniority ranks. But fast forward 3 months and he's nailed it - leading the international expansion of a growth agtech scaleup into the UK. Congrats Rory. Good luck in your new role. I know you'll nail it. [btw Rory is hiring and would be cracking to work with.] Inspired by this story? Like this post to give Rory some good vibes 👍 - - - ps. the waitlist for my career coaching is open. 💔 This topic is close to my heart. It's impacted multiple friends & family. Ageism. 👉 Don't be scared to hire people who are a lot older than you. When it comes to hiring, I feel that ageism is the most common form of prejudice / discrimination. And yet it gets talked about the least. It's also a really common topic in my Q&A sessions. For example, experienced people in the latter half of their career wanting to move industries to something they're passionate about, but being told they're "over-qualified" for what they're applying to. It's understandable. In my experience it comes from a place of fear. > "What if this person overtakes me?" > "They can't really want this role, at this stage of their career." > "If they're not more senior than me at that age, they can't be very good." 🤔 But what if none of these assumptions are true? And they just want to come in and do a fantastic job, bringing all their experience to the table in an industry they're passionate about? When you're next hiring, I'd encourage you to put all those fears to one side. Judge people on the skills, experiences & attitude they bring to the table. Regardless of their age - old or young. It might surprise you just what an asset to your team, these "overqualified" people can be.
We all have a CV / resume. But we don't always get interviews. Here's some data & very simple advice to help: This week in my coaching program, I'm teaching people how to create CVs / resumes, that gets put in the "yes, interview" pile. Once I teach people how, they can do it themselves for the rest of their career. No need for "CV re-writing services" - I really don't believe in these 😡. There are 20+ tips & tricks in the method I share with coachees. But if I could pick just 1 to share with you, it'd be this: 🚨 1 page. (take a look at the data in the document). What do you think? 👍 I always appreciate a like / repost if you found this free advice helpful. 😤 Bit of a rant here! But I think with the rise of #AI, this topic is more important than ever. Stick with me... I speak with a lot of leaders about what's made them successful. And I speak with a lot of consultants & alumni about the skills they use the most from consulting. Almost without exception, everyone zooms in on "soft" skills: ☑️ Listening ☑️ Influencing ☑️ Team cohesion ☑️ Communication ☑️ Emotional intelligence ☑️ Group problem solving ☑️ Adaptability & facing ambiguity But... These skills are hard fought. They need years of conscious effort to master. And AI is quickly mastering the "hard" skills faster & better than we ever will. 🙏 So, can we drop the "soft" please? I've always felt that the prefix means these skills get overlooked. Undervalued. Are somehow 2nd tier to "hard" skills (just look at how our schools teach our kids). They are critical skills that underpin successful & fulfilling careers. They need to be celebrated as such. - - - 😊 Rant over! Let me know what you think. Any soft skills you value that I've missed off the list?
