Whenever I have to get to the office early, I need to start the day off with a hot oatmail chai from Peet's Coffee ☕️. 

It’s warm, sweet, and has the right amount of caffeine to get me jumpstarted. 

While ordering my drink in-person I noticed a few opportunities that could improve the customer and barista experience:

- Imagine walking into a coffee shop and they already know your order and have it ready as you arrive.
- An automated bot could swiftly offer reorders or suggest favorite items, possibly paired with food, streamlining the process beyond the mobile app.
- An ordering system with AI for baristas could offer personalized upsell and cross-sell opportunities, adding value to every customer interaction.

But what are the mechanisms for such innovation? Should this change be spearheaded by the CIO, a dedicated innovation team, or directly at the product level?

A fascinating insight from an Andreessen Horowitz chart reveals that AI budgets currently span various departments. However, I believe a shift toward a centralized strategy may be imminent, particularly as CEOs aim to implement AI more broadly across organizations.
