Sneak peek of the SGE scraper I’ve been working on for the past few weeks for pre-SGE analysis projects 👀👇

✅ Extracts all of the (useful) elements from the different SGE components as well as organic for comparison.
✅ Classifies the type of SGE result and intent.
✅ Counts the number of SGE components and the total SGE word count.
✅ Handles account sign-in, emulates human behaviour when searching and automatically rotates when blocked.
✅ Ability to change location and Google ccTLD.
✅ Exports all data as JSON and an XLSX, with the data split into tabs and additional useful pivots.

Main learnings:
📖 Dealing with account logins at scale is not easy! It doesn’t surprise me that most tool providers aren’t supporting SGE yet.
📖 Scraping lots of different elements also gets complicated, so show your provider a bit of patience the next time it’s not parsing the data you want. I’m using 78 selectors in this project alone.
📖 Google seems to be able to detect Playwright in headless mode when logging in if you use the Python version, but not the Node version🤷‍♂️.
