I support and defend the physical and logical infrastructures of the Tevoran Empire.  My role is to oversee maintenance, design, architecture, and security of the networks and systems that support both the internal workforce, as well as the teams and consultants that perform Tevora's client-facing magic, including Compliance, Solutions, Threat, and Incident Response.

My current projects include:

- Splunk Deployment: Leading the setup, log ingestion, and dashboard creation to enhance system monitoring and data analytics capabilities.
- Nutanix Multinode System Management: Tuning performance, decommissioning outdated nodes, and conducting thorough security analyses to optimize network integrity.
- EntraID Intune Rollout: Assisting with Implementation and managing the deployment and security across the organization to streamline device and application management.
- Cloud Infrastructure Oversight: Auditing AWS/Azure workloads and decommissioning obsolete services to enhance cloud efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Compliance Framework Audits: Conducting systematic reviews of compliance frameworks to ensure regulatory adherence across all systems.
- Okta Integration and SSO Management: Integrating and optimizing identity management processes to improve system security and user accessibility.
- Palo Alto Firewall Management: Integrating and optimizing PA firewalls to meet strict compliance standards and bolster network security and performance.
- OnPrem AD Management: Performing audits and compliance checks, tuning for optimal performance, and hybridizing environments to integrate cloud functionalities.
- Network Security/Blue Team Operations: I focus on defensive strategies to protect our IT assets. My work involves conducting network security analyses, continuously monitoring security dashboards, and promptly responding to alerts to mitigate potential security threats.

Principal Network Engineer

DBM Group

As the ultimate 24/7/365 escalation point at DBMGROUP, I managed complex infrastructure, user, and client issues, ensuring high availability and performance across all systems. My role involved close collaboration with stakeholders and team members to assess and fulfill ongoing and future infrastructure needs.

I was responsible for developing and maintaining all security processes and documentation, including achieving and upholding SOC2 Compliance and overseeing the cybersecurity framework. This encompassed managing sophisticated security platforms such as Cisco, Darktrace, and AlienVault SIEM, and conducting internal audits related to user and vendor security.

My duties also included crafting and enforcing IT standards, policies, and procedures, as well as overseeing the technical infrastructure services such as LAN/WAN, Telco, AC/DC, HVAC, and Vendor Management. I worked alongside the VP of Tech to prepare and manage operating budgets and collaborated with the DevOps team to integrate security measures into the CI/CD pipeline.

I oversaw corporate planning activities, including disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, and provided comprehensive reports on all IT infrastructure and security matters. Additionally, I managed all client-facing IT operations, encompassing colocation and cloud networks, as well as physical and virtual web and database servers.

My recent projects included engineering and managing AWS deployments for client-facing services and leading the Helpdesk and Systems Engineering teams to foster a responsive and efficient IT support environment.

Director of IT Infrastructure and Security

I joined DBMGROUP in 2002 as a contractor, managing their infrastructure relocation from their initial site to a new location. At the outset, the organization had a modest setup consisting of an FTP and a Novell Server supporting 15 users. Over the years, I have spearheaded the transformation of DBMGROUP's infrastructure into a SOC2 compliant platform, capable of supporting sophisticated client services, data processing, and user support across multiple locations and data centers.

My expertise is anchored in Microsoft Server technology, with extensive experience in all versions from Windows NT to Server 2019. I specialize in applications such as Hyper-V, Exchange, SQL Server, BackupExec, and IIS. My leadership has guided our organization through several SOC2 audits and the development of DBMG's comprehensive cybersecurity program, which includes strategic application and hardware deployments, alongside the creation of critical policies and procedures.

Collaboratively working with DevOps teams, I have ensured that security is integrated into every phase of product development and deployment. One of our most significant recent projects involved migrating the client-facing architecture from traditional data centers to the AWS cloud. This included designing DBMG's infrastructure in VPCs and EC2 instances, and ensuring seamless integration with main networks through Site-to-Site VPNs. My focus on optimizing the performance and security of our cloud architecture has been instrumental in maintaining and elevating our SOC2 compliance standards.

As a Systems Engineer, I delivered comprehensive IT solutions to diverse business clients across Orange and Los Angeles Counties. Notable clients included the City of Arcadia Fire Department, Multiquip, Inc., and Meggitt Western Design. My responsibilities spanned server maintenance and troubleshooting, network infrastructure assessments and upgrades, and backup system enhancements. I also provided workstation IT support and user assistance across various operating environments.

In addition to technical duties, I collaborated closely with client teams to ensure seamless integration of new systems and conducted regular reviews to optimize IT operations. The culmination of these efforts was with Database Marketing Group, where my project engagement led to a full-time position in March 2003.

After the merger, I performed the network and Windows NT domain work to separate Ultralink's user network from their former owner before leaving to work for myself.

Lan Analyst III

Artex

As a Systems Engineer specializing in Cisco technologies, I had the privilege of serving as a field engineer at Artex. This role enabled me to support a diverse portfolio of clients, including prestigious organizations such as BW/IP (now known as Flowserve), City of Arcadia Fire and Police Departments, Multiquip, Inc., Lieber and Stoller, and SAG-AFTRA (previously AFTRA). My responsibilities encompassed deploying PIX Firewalls, Catalyst Switches, NT Servers, and Exchange Servers. I played a key role in extensive Y2K compliance and upgrade initiatives, demonstrating my capability to innovate by remotely setting up an Exchange server to avoid an unnecessary trip to Wales.

My commitment to excellence took me across the United States and to Puerto Rico, leading onsite rollouts for California-based corporations and managing temporary technical teams. This experience was pivotal in my promotion to Senior Systems Engineer, a role in which I became the go-to "rescue" expert for colleagues facing challenges.

Despite the unfortunate closure of Artex due to the dotcom bubble burst and investment setbacks in Northpoint DSL, my tenure there was invaluable. It served as a rigorous business bootcamp and marked the beginning of my professional journey in the technology sector.

Sr. Systems Engineer

Sequoia Union School District

At Sequoia Union School, I took on the role of overseeing the computer lab and providing IT support, revitalizing the school's technological infrastructure from the ground up. When I joined, the existing systems, including a Novell server, were non-operational. With no prior experience in Novell networks, I successfully restored the IBM server hardware, reinstalled Novell, and configured the baseband network cards. This effort reconnected the server to a network of PS/2s, enabling a user-friendly batch file interface for students to access educational games like "Oregon Trail" and "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?"

Additionally, I maintained a small Apple II GS network and integrated four Windows 3.11 workstations, which shared a printer via an ABCD box. Recognizing the need for more efficient technology, I secured funding for a server upgrade, network cards, Windows 95 software, and a USRobotics modem. This upgrade allowed me to implement a print queue, replacing the impractical ABCD box system, and I introduced internet access through a proxy application called Wingate, connected via my dial-up internet account. This was a significant step for a rural school at the dawn of the internet age.

In the lab, I assisted students and teachers with various technological needs, from helping first graders print artwork to aiding eighth graders in online research for reports. The positive impact of these upgrades on both students and faculty made this role immensely rewarding and enjoyable.

My 10 years of experience with the Sequoia Lake YMCA and child development in my youth have uniquely shaped my approach in the IT workspace.
